Anyone else spending $500 or less on your dress?

I'm trying to spend $800 total on my wedding outfit. I want to save budget for shoes, accessories, and alterations, so I feel like I should be looking for a dress that's $500 or less. Has anyone found a dress in that price range or is that way too little??

I went to a local bridal shop and found my dress on sale for $400, originally a $1600 dress! It’s definitely possible, just don’t look at dresses that are more than you can afford, or dress regret will be really real for you!

My dress was $700! Originally $1,800 but discontinued and marked down. My alterations were $560 though!!!!! CRAZY! So I’m glad it was so inexpensive. I spent $90 on shoes and $150 on earrings. I know. That’s crazy. I couldn’t help it.

Also mine was from BHLDN so there are options aside from David’s.

I was hoping to spend $500 on a dress. Went o David's bridal and ended up spending $600. Still happy that it was under $1,000, though! Haven't gotten it in yet to know about alterations

I spent $495 on my dress (but that doesn't include alterations). It was on sale at a local bridal boutique. Definitely keep an eye out for sales/events at the stores. I was looking at Azazie and their try-at-home program is amazing, I would definitely recommend. I might even do a reception dress from them because I love them so much. I also bought my shoes pre-owned but never worn off Poshmark (originally $100, but I only paid $75). My veil cost only $20 on Amazon. I fully expected it to be horrible quality, but it's not! Good luck!

I bought my dress itself for 999, it was off rack and I negotiated, so I think it’s totaly doable. That being said I paid about $1200 in alterations because it was huge on me.

I got my dress on clearance for $199 from David’s bridal. I didn’t really have that tight of a budget, but that’s what I fell in love with. I also got a belt for $130 that I’m going to wear in my hair as a headband. I shouldn’t need much in alterations, if any one I get proper undergarments. It’s totally possible to get your attire within your budget. Don’t get caught up in the girls who spend thousands on their dresses, because honestly they aren’t any that are more beautiful on their wedding day then us in reasonably priced dresses.

Mine was a sample, I paid $500 down from $1400. It was pretty much un-worn because it had an illusion neckline and at that point everyone seemed to want strapless sweetheart! I did spend $350 in alterations but my shoes were $20 (reduced from $140), and I had my sister’s veil as my something borrowed.

I got mine for $360 (on sale, clearance, and off the rack) from David’s Bridal. It fits perfectly in the body, I’m just adding a modesty peace and hemming the front so I don’t have to carry it all the time when I walk

I gambled and won. I ordered my dress online through Amazon, gave them my measurements and a couple of minor alterations, and had a dress shipped to my door for $100. The only thing I have to get adjusted is the straps. I'm so lucky!!!

I got a crazy good deal on my dress, buying it from another bride online. I paid $30 for the dress, $14 for Priority Mail shipping, and $13 to a little old lady who hemmed it a tiny bit for me, the only alteration it needed. Good luck!

Yes! My first one was $450 w the veil, it was off the rack at a nice bridal shop, originally 1,300. I found another one for $150 on facebook marketplace, originally $300. Photos of both on my weddingwire profile if you go to my discussions. Keep looking, definitely possible!

I got mine for $300 at a sample sale this past July. My dress was 85% off the original price. Keep an eye out at your local boutiques to see when they’re selling their sample gowns for discounted prices.

Absolutely possible! I got my original elopement dress for $350, it was a cancellation and the style recently discontinued so the salon sold it to me for about a 70% discount.
Try sample sales, consignment bridal salons, preowned or simply waiting for a good sale at your favorite salon! $500 is a good budget to get a nice dress, $300-$500 is about the range you pay for a discounted $1000-$1200 dress so you’ll have no problem!

I made a Frankenstein dress from 2 different ones, but total cost with alterations and shoes will still be under 1k.

If you've got the time, check out JJs House. I feel like people have a bad feeling on them because it ships from overseas, but they had very pretty designs and the cost was lower to where I decided if it was an epic failure it's only 100. I found the quality to be fine, if I didn't want to combo the dress and just do "as is" I'd probably have paid for their custom services. I'm too short and busty for their standard sizing.

    Good luck!

I found a dress I loved from DB for 500- but my all in budget is 200. I spend time searching online and found the exact dress used for 100! Since I had already been to the store I knew my size. The hunt took some time, but was very fun!! Since the veil is just for the ceremony I am getting one from amazon. i’m getting shoes I can wear for multiple events over the years, and on the hunt now for jewelry!

    You can do this!
