Anyone Else Having Only a Maid of Honor and No Other Bridesmaids?

I_Found_Mr_Wright, on June 8, 2011 at 4:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 18

I don't really have anyone else I feel comfortable enough with or close enough with to be my bridesmaids so I'm just having my very best friend from childhood who is practically like a sister to me, be my MOH. Is this common or will it look funny?

I wouldn't say it's common, but I know several people who have done this and I don't think it looks funny at all! In fact, it really makes the wedding more intimate and romantic, in my opinion.

That's a good way to look at it! I am having a smallish wedding---about 125 and I really do like that "intimate romantic" feel. Thanks! Smiley smile

I was just at a wedding where there was only a best man maid of honor flower girl and ring bearer and it didnt look bad at all. It's what ever you are comfortable with.

I' am overdoing it with 1 moh 5 bridesmaids 1 best man and 4 groomsmen. o.O

Im only having 100 guests so this big of a bridal party may look funny.

I'm only having a maid of honor. I don't have too many girl friends. FH is having a best man and a groomsman. It's whatever you want.

I've been to a wedding with a MOH and 1 BM. It was beautiful. I have a Maid and a Matron + 1 JB (FH's daughter). Sometimes small just works.

I am only having a matron of honor as well. The last wedding I went too only had a maid of honor and best man as the wedding party and it didn't look funny at all! Simple, personal, & romantic! Smiley smile

We are also only having a MOH and BM. I have two daughters and several girls I could pick from our riding club, but my girls are performing music for our ceremony and I only wanted my closest friend.

We are only having a MOH and a Best Man. I just feel like I only want our best friends standing up with us. We are having a fairly small wedding though, only 110 guests.

I'm so glad there are so many other people doing this as well! I definitely agree with Ali W.--I only want our very best friends and family standing up there with us. My bestfriend is my MOH and my FH's only brother is his Best Man. Plus, with a small wedding party, there is more attention to the bride and groom! :-P

My sister is my MOH and my BIL is the best man...I was going to ask a few friends to be BM but my FH doesn`t have anyone else he would like to be groomsmen so I figure one of each is good enough.

I'm not even having a woman - I'm having my brother be my Man of Honor. To be honest, after hearing so many stories about brides having problems with BP (no matter who was at fault), it just didn't make sense to me to try to choose friends. I might change my mind later, but there can be so many unnecessary problems with too many people in the BP

We are not having a MOH or Best man, just 3 bridesmaids, 1 jr BM, 3 GM, and 1 jr GM, flower girl, flower boy, and ring bearer.
