Anyone else have a random accident before their wedding. 30 days away and I'm on crutches!

Kendra , on April 14, 2014 at 1:48 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

Yup, the wedding is May 17th and I have just been put on crutches for breaking my big toe in 3 places because a giant horse jumped on it. So my cute Jack Rodgers wedge sandals will spend the big day in a box. I'm 29, I've been working with horses since I was 6. I've been stepped on before. Of course this happens before I am going to get married.

On the bright side, I have been so anxious about all the people looking at me while I'm walking down the aisle (I have a bit of anxiety when it comes to crowds and being the center of attention) For whatever reason I feel a bit better about it now, maybe because I'm too busy laughing about the irony of this situation...

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. You should decorate your crutches if possible. Hope you heal fast!

Oh no that sucks! Sorry to hear that. You will still be able to rock it on the crutches though!

I dislocate my little toe ALL the time. It makes me immobile for about 3 days to a week every time. I am going to be taking all measures to protect it in the week leading up to the wedding!

Is there any chance that with a month to go, you could use a cane just to do the walk down the aisle and then the two of you could sit at the altar?

Oh no! Sorry that happened to you!

I like Centerpiece's idea, if you could pull it off.

FH just busted his ankle and had reconstructive surgery. The doctor lepta saying 4-6 weeks in a cast then 4-6 weeks in a boot and then 4-6 weeks in an air cast. The day of the surgery, I told the doctor he had 100 days to get him in regular shoes and dancing.

I'm so sorry! FWIW, I knew a groom once who was specifically *forbidden* by his B@B to play any sports the week before the wedding. Yep, you guessed-- the day before he sprained his ankle playing basketball. He had to hobble down the aisle and try not to let her know.

I only tell you cause I thought it might make you smile, and I figure you can use that.

Thanks guys for the ideas and laughs! Fingers crossed the Dr. said I should be off crutches as long as I take it easy now. I'm just not supposed to have my heart set on heels, and dancing too much. That doesn't break my heart too bad.

OMG! you poor thing, hopefully your toe heals quickly and by the wedding you are in better shape.

no accidents here...knock on wood........ but FH has had some major issues with his teeth and gums lately and he FINALLY went to the dentist who personally walked him across the street to the oral surgeon and in a months time he needs major surgery and reconstruction on his teeth and gums and several root cancals, hopefully his mouth will be healed by the wedding (5/17) and he has his "new" teeth by then otherwise no smiles for our photos Smiley sad

Luckily it wasn't visible in any way but I had an ovarian cyst rupture 4 days before my wedding. SO PAINFUL. Hope you heal quickly!

Oh no! I am tree months out and fell last week in the parking lot at Hobby Lobby in heels. I twisted my ankle and bruised my knees badly. FH is a accident waiting to happen with training horses right now.

Kendra, just paint your crutches (or cane) blue.

Not us, but just before a friend of DH's wedding the best man (groom's brother) did something to his leg/ankle that land him with crutches. The dressed the crutches up with some fake ivy for the wedding.

And in a different wedding a friend of DH's, the bride, ended up with severe flu in the days leading up to her wedding. Her first solid meal was actually at her wedding. She ended up losing so much weight that she could turn her dress around on herself while it was done up.
