Anyone doing both Matron of honor AND Maid of honor?

I have 7 potential bridesmaids. Including 2 of my closest friends. One is married, the other is not. I don't want to choose between them. Is it odd to have both matron AND Maid of honor? Any one considering the same? How is that going for you?

I come from a time in which one woman was given the title of Maid/Matron of Honor. The only difference in title was determined by her marital status. I still prefer the one Honor attendant, but it's hardly unusual to have both a Maid and Matron of Honor.

I have 7 bridesmaids also! Both the matron and maid of honor are my 2 sisters and you don't always have to do what tradition does. It's YOUR day & if it makes you not happy or stresses you out having to pick 1 girl as the maid of honor, then don't. Do what YOU want!! Smiley smile

I am having both as well. My friend from later in life (college) is my maid of honor and my childhood friend is my matron of honor. There have been no issues so far! My maid of honor is taking the lead since she has no kids to worry about!

I'm having both! My sister is already married, and my childhood best friend isn't. It was a no brainer, since I really didn't want to chose between the two. They both know of this plan and are really excited. They get along well and have been planning things together so that's an added bonus.
