Anyone doing both Matron of honor AND Maid of honor?

Rita , on November 29, 2016 at 2:44 AM

I have 7 potential bridesmaids. Including 2 of my closest friends. One is married, the other is not. I don't want to choose between them. Is it odd to have both matron AND Maid of honor? Any one considering the same? How is that going for you?

I have two sisters and my fiancé has a sister who is married to an awesome guy, so we are calling the four of them our Best People of Honor. Haha Smiley smile

Luckily the both I would be asking are also best friends. The 3 of us have been since we were 16yo. That's why I couldn't imagine choosing.

How did any of you present it to them? I haven't asked yet. Do you present it with guidelines, so there's no confusion? Lol or let them figure it out?

I'm thinking of asking them soon since they have both been a major help.

Hi Rita - Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters.

I had 5 bridesmaids plus a Maid of Honor (my sister) and a Matron of Honor (my sister in law)! For me it seemed like an easy way to honor both sisters Smiley smile

I do have a photo uploaded. Aw man. Maybe it just doesn't show? I don't want to have a generic avatar. I'll try reloading. Smiley smile

I'm glad to see someone else doing this. My older sister expected that she was my MOH and I really don't want to rely on her (she's super hard to get to commit to almost anything or to be on time, and always has an excuse for why she didn't follow through on anything - it really sucks), but I also wanted my best friend to be my MOH...so someone suggested both. My sister is married so she's the Matron of Honor and my friend isn't, so she's the Maid of Honor. The dual role made both of them happy and each communicate wonderfully with the other. I'm really happy that they're both there to lend a hand when needed Smiley smile

@amanda & @sarah ... do they have specific roles on what they are responsible for? Or are they just figuring it out amongst themselves?

I have two maids of honor. One is my sister and one is my best friend since childhood. They've had no issues. In fact, having two has been helpful since my sister deals with anxiety and this helps her feel less pressure (even though I've made it clear all she needs to do is show up on the day in a dress that's the right color scheme!).

My other friend had only bridesmaids and no maid of honor and nobody cared either.
