Anyone doing both Matron of honor AND Maid of honor?

Rita , on November 29, 2016 at 2:44 AM

I have 7 potential bridesmaids. Including 2 of my closest friends. One is married, the other is not. I don't want to choose between them. Is it odd to have both matron AND Maid of honor? Any one considering the same? How is that going for you?

My friend had 2 matron of honor because both were her sisters... one was way more helpful with us planning everything and the other we lucked out she even showed up.

I myself currently am planning to have 1... but I am welcomed to the idea of two...

Go with your gut, if you want both, go for it.

@Rita: They don't necessarily have specific roles, but they've been collaborating together. But this is where it benefited to have my friend involved because my sister has been MIA and (supposedly) hasn't done 'her share' of the things they've agreed to handle together. My fiancé even said "Amanda, if you let your sister be your MOH and in charge of your showers and everything; I think you're just going to wind up disappointed and let down." It sucks it's like that with her Smiley sad

I have both !! It's been working out great so far. My Matron of Honor is a planner and very organized and my maid of honor isn't but she's been at all of my appointments and has helped me make some major decisions. They've definitely balanced each other out and they are working very well together. All of my bridesmaids have been wonderful so far !!

I have been in multiple weddings where I was the maid/matron of honor with a co-matron of honor.

I have both as well, and no problems! My maid of honor is only 20 and my matron of honor is 24 so that definitely makes a difference because the 20yo doesn't know much as far as all this wedding stuff goes lol.

Yup! My SIL and FSIL. My SIL is married but my FSIL is not. I didn't want to choose between the two so I made them both MOHs.

My entire bridal party is married, so I'm having 2 matrons of honor. One is my best friend from growing up, and one is my closest friend at this stage in my life (went to grad school together and now teach in the same school) they both mean so much to me in different ways, that choosing between them just didn't feel right. I've had zero problems, but I'm sure it depends on personalities. Of course I'm biased, but both of my girls are sweet as can be and are so happy to have the honor.. I think that's how most would feel while sharing the role. It also works well for me because one lives in my current city, and the other lives in my hometown where my family is still located! Do what feels right and don't look back!

I've been in weddings where they had both. I'm sure I have everyone topped anyways because I chose all 8 of my special ladies to be my maids/matrons of honor. I couldn't choose between them and I love them all equally so I was like "fuck it... its my wedding. I want them all to be that special role". And its been awesome since I asked! Everyone is working together and incorporating ideas for the bachelorette party and shower and I'll be swapping them for who stands by me in the church, during pictures, dinner, etc

I'm having both. My sister is my matron of honor and my best friend is the maid of honor. My sister is pregnant and will be most of our engagement, so she's really busy but I still wanted to honor our relationship. She and my best friend will work together.
