Anyone been to or had a wedding with succulent favors?

Amanda, on November 8, 2016 at 4:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 41

One of our ideas for a favor was a mini succulent, and our DOC thinks we should do those over the other ideas. I'm worried no one will take them though! She says people like them and usually take them but has anyone else been to or had a wedding with succulent favors? How many did you have leftover? I guess I'm not opposed to having a bunch of mini succulents for a little home garden but I'm just wondering.

Put Mrs CK in your heading. She had succulent favours.

Thought about this too! I really like them and think they are so cute. Ultimately nixed the idea when I realized how many guests would be travelling, either by car or airplane. If I were a guest travelling even for a couple of hours in the car I would not take one, so no succulents it is! It's totally up to you and is completely dependent on your venue/your guests.

I went to a wedding with succulent favors, and I loved it! The couple made enough for everyone to take one, so me and my FH both took them. I've replanted them into a bigger pot a few times over the past couple years and they just keep growing lol. My friend, who was the bride, loves coming over and seeing how big they have gotten.

I had succulents. We had about 10 (15 guests) or so, 1 for each couple is my recommendation. A few got left behind and my husband happily took them home.

We collect them, and we bought them a few months prior and grew them the way we like them.

ETA: I lied apparently we had 14 lol. I also had a succulent bouquet that we ordered from http://www.succulentlyurban.com/ and my husband put the succulents into a pot and we'll keep them forever.

We thought about doing this and I figured the ones people didn't take I would just plant anyway so no loss. We ended up nixing the idea BUT went to a wedding on Sunday that had them. I don't know how many were left over, none at our table though. Trust me, I was looking because I would have gladly taken an extra! hahah

Ok so! I had succulents and I have no idea what happened to all of them. I dont know if the guests took them or if the venue took them. Actually I'm messaging my venue and asking because I loved those babies. But if I went to a wedding and had favors as succulents I would like it but not if I was travelling. So just keep that in mind if you have a bunch of out of town guests.

That's what we are doing! FH is growing them and I'm painting all the pots! I spoke to a bride that did them and out of 130 she had 20 leftover.

We were thinking about it initially, but nixed it because of logistics. We had some people fly in and we had an afterparty at a bar, people couldn't really have taken them along.

I love succulents and would have loved having them, but it would have been a waste of money for us.

I thought about having them as favors as well. We ended up doing away with it, since we don't think people will love them as much as we do, to take them home. We're going the edible and photo booth pic route.

My sister gave succulents as a wedding favor for her wedding years ago and I remember we had to take about half of them back to our house. Cute idea but logistically not everyone is into them or wanting to actually take care of them I think.

I went to a 50th birthday hoedown this past weekend and they used small succulents as favors and larger ones for centerpieces. Everyone loved them. I took two! Smiley smile

We actually had A LOT of people take them. It's fun going to friends and family's houses and spotting them still in their pots. Hubs gma took the leftovers which I was kind of upset about, but my mom told her it was ok. I was planning on replanting and growing them.

I went to a wedding with these! I thought they were super cute. Mine died...but I did like the favor! I'm not doing favors, and definitely couldn't raise succulents, but go for it if you have a green thumb!

Cute idea! Me personally? I'd leave it. I don't want to take home something that I'm gonna end up killing anyways.

I think it's a great gift. Especially if it's neutral enough to put it in their home. Meaning doesn't have a permanent saying on the case or whatever..cute idea.

    I think they're cute. I'd take them home if I wasn't flying.
