Anybody else doing the "wedding in a box" thing?

WorthTheWait, on June 13, 2017 at 10:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 75

So...we got engaged in April and we are getting married in July of 2018. I have been lurking on these forums (and have posted a few things) for a couple of weeks. We are doing the total package deal. As in...we show up with our paperwork, a dress, and a tux. We're upgrading the cake, adding a string quartet, etc., but other than that, I'm done! Curious to hear if anyone else is going this route? I don't think I've seen any postings to that effect? Thanks!

Our venue takes care of everything except DJ, cake, photographer and florist(if we want fresh flowers) I do have to pick colors and give her ideas of centerpieces but she'll help with the final decision and they set up and break down the day of.

All inclusive is wonderful. I don't have to pick vendors or anything. Very helpful when youre a full time student working part time Smiley smile

Our venue included 4 hour'durves, 4 course meal, sparkling wine toast, DJ, Florist, Limo and photographer. we could "upgrade" some of the packages, but we only upgraded some floral.

It nice to write a check to one place instead of several and I feel like the places we had to choose know out venue well so it will be a smooth process.

Our venue included everything but DJ and photographer. It was great! I love the fact that we still were able to meet with the bakery and design our cake. We also met with the florist to decide what we wanted for our centerpieces. I went with their florist for my bouquet as well. Made things so easy!

Yes I am. The only thing not included in our package are invitations.

My only real decisions have been which of the two DJs and which of the 2 photographers that come with the package to choose from.

    I could not be happier.

Our venue included everything, except we hated their photographer so we did book our own. It was glorious. I loved not needing to think about most of it and not needing to coordinate vendors and stuff. I told them what I wanted, paid, and showed up lol.

Our venue is all inclusive! The only thing we have to do is get a photographer! It's sooooo amazing not worrying about a thing! Plus my family & friends wont have to lift a finger & can just enjoy the day! So excited for this!

Glad to hear from you all. So far, it is ridiculously stress-free to the point I keep asking myself what I'm missing! We are getting married on a transatlantic voyage, and there was little to upgrade. What we did, we did "sight unseen." We will meet with the wedding planner when we embark.

    I'm not. I specifically didn't want a "generic" wedding.

We originally looked at all-inclusive, but there was a lot of things we were paying for but didn't actually want. They wouldn't reduce the price if we removed some things, so we just felt it wasn't for us and the type of event we were looking for.

Wow. That sounds wonderful!! Planning can get a little stressful. When I first started planning I was going to go the all inclusive route, but it was out of budget. So I decided to put it all together myself and I am glad I did because of all the DIY and crafting. I love it and I do it on the side for some extra $ so why not for myself? The booking vendors is what can get stressful but the creating is heaven for me.

@chivy, do you ever have anything nice to say, lol?

It doesn't have to be generic.

I'm choosing all my own floral arrangements, music, we are writing parts of our vows, picking a cake we like and adding a few other personal touches to our wedding.

I'm doing a DW in Florida. Package from the venue includes DJ, photographer, food, alcohol, all flowers (ceremony, my bouquet, centerpieces, arch flowers, etc), ceremony, cocktail hour, officiant, cake. My only might splurge was upgrading the food package. I might move the ceremony to the rooftop too.

FH was sold because he wouldn't have to hear me compare vendors and bitch about pricing. We select from the vendors they have contacts with which works for me. Because it's all of their own vendors they provide a DOC as well.

Took allot of the stress off so I could focus on other stuff since we are hosting pre-wedding party and morning after brunch.

Chivy - there are TONS of ways to customize a wedding. An AI package just gives you the basics to start from rather than having to self source everything. To each their own.

Yes, my venue is an all inclusive. However, we didnt want their centerpieces, so we made our own. The only outside vendors we need are the DJ, photographer, the photobooth, and the people doing our customized stage. All inclusives are wonderful and there is nothing wrong with them

Our venue is pretty much all inclusive. We still had to find our own officiant and obv meet with all the vendors, pick out our decor, etc, but yes mostly everything was done for us with our package. Much easier that way and honestly ended up being less expensive.

@Chivy, all inclusive doesn't make for a generic wedding. Although I don't even know why I'm bothering responding to you because you almost never have a clue what you're talking about.

I am!! The only big things we have to do are Photog, DJ, and Officiant. Select one of two bakeries for the cake and go to a food tasting. We are only having one attendant each, so cuts down on cat herding. I cannot wait!!
