Anybody else doing the "wedding in a box" thing?

So...we got engaged in April and we are getting married in July of 2018. I have been lurking on these forums (and have posted a few things) for a couple of weeks. We are doing the total package deal. As in...we show up with our paperwork, a dress, and a tux. We're upgrading the cake, adding a string...

I don't think I've seen any postings to that effect? Thanks!

@Chivy - I can bring my own decor. They'll set it all up. We get to pick our cake design, and it's based on guest number, not some arbitrary size. Ceremony is in a rose garden, and reception is in one of the permanent structures in the botanical garden, so it doesn't need much decor, TBH. I'll do table overlays in our colors and maybe some string lights. My MOH is doing one in DR, and hated all the linen options, so she is bringing ALL her own linens there. It's really up to the couple how much they want to deviate from what's offered.

Definitely appealing!!! I wish I had found a venue that does this. I don't think it's very common in my area. Our venue covered a lot but not decor, flowers, cake, dessert bar, photographer, videographer, DJ or photo booth.

Wedding in a box= you just show up ready to go= generic. I know there are ways to customize an all inclusive wedding. Said what I said and I meant it, thanks.

We have a mostly-inclusive venue. The price per head includes:

    Food

    Open bar all night

    Tables

    Chiavari Chairs

Linens (I get to choose which colors and they are much nicer tablecloths than a lot of others I've seen)

    Plates/Glasses/etc.

I have a great florist, photographer, DJ and bakery that I've either hired previously or been at events where they have worked. It takes a lot of stress off knowing that I have so many things taken care of without having to find vendors, pay delivery fees, etc.

We did a "semi-Inclusive" wedding...included venue, tables, chairs, lines, place settings, some décor, a DOC then that DOC coordinated with the "suggested"(required) vendors including catering, bar, cake, DJ, florist. I got to pick all the details but only worked directly with the DOC for all those. Other vendors (photography, transportation, stationary etc) were booked separately.

Honestly, we went this route because we had a six month engagement in the midst of my finishing graduate schools, changing jobs and buying a house. There was no way to do the full planning and coordination of the wedding I wanted in that timeframe on my own. I still got exactly the wedding I wanted, but had someone else handle a lot of the logistics. Made it super easy and *mostly* enjoyable...I did run into a few hiccups, but I assume everyone does.

Does anyone have any BAMs or inspo photos of all inclusives? I'm just curious how they usually turn out

Regardless of any way you can make a wedding special to you specifically... because most of them- surprise- you can.

Chivy- explain to me why generic is bad?

Also- follow up- are you wearing a white gown?

I'm hoping our guests on the Queen Mary don't find it to be generic! I think it will be lovely. 5-star dinner, string quartet, top/notch champagne, etc. "Wedding in a box" must be a regional saying. It has nothing to do with quality, it simply means that it is one-stop shopping. To everyone else, thanks for the comments and positive thoughts! It's nice when we can be supportive of other's choices without resorting to being snarky or rude. Lots of people are doing things differently than I am, but I would never presume to question what obviously works for them. @Chivy-with all due respect, I strongly suspect your wedding isn't as custom as you'd like to believe. Are you wearing couture?

My wedding wasn't all-inclusive and I still just showed up ready to go. What was I supposed to do on my wedding day?

I'm sure I would have had to answer all the same questions whether I went through one vendor or 7 vendors.

@Kelley - last I heard, she was sewing her own dress. Dunno if that changed.

Jo I never said generic was bad. I said it wasn't what I wanted. And I'm not wearing a white gown.
