Anybody else doing the "wedding in a box" thing?

So...we got engaged in April and we are getting married in July of 2018. I have been lurking on these forums (and have posted a few things) for a couple of weeks. We are doing the total package deal. As in...we show up with our paperwork, a dress, and a tux. We're upgrading the cake, adding a string...

As in...we show up with our paperwork, a dress, and a tux. We're upgrading the cake, adding a string quartet, etc., but other than that, I'm done! Curious to hear if anyone else is going this route? I don't think I've seen any postings to that effect? Thanks!

I don't think our guests on the Queen Mary will find it to be generic. 5-star dinner, top-notch champagne, etc. I think it will be lovely. To all posters (other than @Chivy) thanks for the warm wishes, comments, and great ideas. It's great when we can support each other's choices without resorting to being snarky or judgmental. Lots of people on here are making decisions that I necessarily wouldn't make. But, they obviously work for them, and I'd never presume to judge. @Chivy-I suspect your wedding isn't as custom as you'd have us believe. Are you wearing couture? Also, the same vendors you are choosing are being picked by tons of other brides and these same vendors most likely are part of the all-inclusive packages that you deride.

Vicki it must be. Hi here's your attention. Youve made a hobby out of trying to get my attention. I hope you're happy now cause this is all I have for you today. Let's try again later. Or not, I'm ok with that too.

Like @Heather, my venue was the opposite of all-inclusive. It didn't include much of anything. It was fun hand-selecting everything, but it was also stressful to coordinate so many moving parts, so I definitely see the appeal of all-inclusive. I think they can be cookie cutter if you pick the wrong venue, but some of the most unique and fun weddings I've been to have been all-inclusive.

Anyway, any room on the Queen Mary, or nah?

Yes....getting married in Vegas so that's basically the only option. I look at it this way...they do a million of them this way, they've got it down to a science and it saves me time and stress with a single check.

Kelley- I love the Queen Mary! I live about 45 minutes from there. Your wedding will be amazing

If you see a strange person lurking in the bushes outside, don't be afraid, it's just me!

as far as all inclusive- all of our guests said ours was one of the best weddings they've been too. All-inclusive doesn't mean cookie cutter.

My venue is taking care of a few things like setting up the tables and making the cake for us but we are still responsible for everything else..when you say wedding in a box you're probably forgetting about all the details you need to take care of , like your accessories, bridal party attire, invitations, guest lists, etc etc etc, the list goes on for days. I'm a few months out and my schedule is fully packed with things to take care of for the wedding

Well it won't matter what they put in their drinks after they pour bleach in their eye balls.

My venue does not include anything but the space. Our wedding will actually be the first ever there. I am excited about all the planning but I must say I am a bit jealous of you guys and all inclusive. Haha! I just know when my grandmother suggested our venue and I went and looked at it I fell in love. I said this fits my theme perfect and this is what I want. Too bad we are having to go to individual vendors for everything though.
