Any funny requests that you've had to make?

Jessica, on June 17, 2021 at 7:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

My FH was cracking up because I have been pretty calm since we got engaged. I started planning our wedding & juggling everything without a ton of anxiety. We are now 69 days away so, it finally happened, I cracked, I sat down with him to have a serious talk. It was real serious y'all. I got straight faced & lowered my voice & I told him during cake time, if he does not lightly & ever so gently scoop the most dainty lil piece of cake into my mouth and instead, if he chooses to SMASH it onto my $500 make up artist's masterpiece (aka my face), HE will in fact, be paying for said makeup artist.

He got a kick out of that but ya know... when you know a guy, you know a guy & sometimes they just need a lil' warning. Smiley laugh I am not trying to end my wedding night looking like the joker!

Anyone else have a funny request with anyone surrounding your wedding??

Funny. I had the same conversation with my FH, but added my dress and it's cost.

Haha! The dress is a nice touch! I knew I would get him just with the cost of the MUA. Him- "There goes my honeymoon souvenir money."

We’ve had that same conversation and for him to as quickly and non sexually as possible remove my garter. I always get second hand embarrassment when I see videos of guys with their head under their wives dresses taking off the garter. I’m like .... my parents will be right there OMG I would die.

Yes!!! We skipped the garter altogether for that very reason! I would be so embarrassed in front of my family!

DH hates to dance. (Well, until you get him a little tipsy and I get on the dance floor. Then he seems to be fine.)

I'm a picky eater (childhood trauma).

I insisted we dance together at weddings, particularly ours.

...He made a bet with me once. For every food I'd try, he'd dance with me once. I didn't have to LIKE it, just try it.

Silly man forgot a couple of things: 1. To put an end date on this bet. 2. That I'm a stubborn Taurus. 3. That reverse psychology WORKS on me.

I saved up enough 'tried foods' that he had to dance with me AND his mom. (My MIL likes me for a lot of reasons, this is one of them.)

OMG yes! The garter is a good one!! My FH's family are mostly Mormon. I would be SUPER embarrassed but I think we would embarrass them even more so hopefully, although no longer Mormon himself, my FH will behave in that regard! *fingers crossed*

We are skipping the garter, we both find it disgusting and just awful to do in front of parents and grandparents and literally anyone! Also the cake smash is a BIG no, I said we would be annulling if he did that (jk) but seriously it's a no.

Yeah if he smashed cake on me, that might be the shortest marriage ever 😂 Thankfully he agrees with me!! That is one tradition I do not understand at all!

We had the cake smash talk, too, and thankfully skipped the bouquet and garter toss. I remember attending weddings as a kid and being horrified as my uncles took the garters off with their teeth! No. Thank. You!

My fiancé doesn’t eat cake. We may skip the garter belt too, his mom will be 93...

Same!! I don't like the garter toss because I'm not the type of person who wants to be put on the spot, but my fiance really wanted to do it. So he has promised no teeth, no hijinks, just grab the garter and get out! I think at least once a week I still bring it up and remind him that any "surprises" during the garter grab are NOT okay!

I haven't had the cake smash convo yet, but I will. I absolutely would hate to have cake smeared all over my face, I also don't like the thought of using my fingers in general to feed him cake. so I'm thinking we'll use forks.

I had to have a convo about how much I hate the bouquet and garter toss traditions. So I'm hoping we can cut those out of our reception all together. We also at that point will only have a handful of truly single friends/family and I think it'd be weird to do for only like 5 people.

Same!!! Though when my parents got married my mom wore toe socks in place of the garter lol. I don't mind a little frosting on the nose but I agree cake smash is a huge no.
