Announcements after a destination wedding - timeframe

bvibride, on June 20, 2017 at 4:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

I got married in April in a small, destination wedding. I was planning on sending a wedding announcement afterwards to those that could not attend and/or were not invited due to the small size.

How late is too late to send the announcement? Or is there even a point where it's "too late to send"?

I would have had it out by now, but after 8 weeks I'm still waiting for my photos! I'm trying to get an ETA from the photographer but, at this point, the announcement seems really late!

I guess my Plan B, if I'm forced to go to it, would be to send a holiday card with our wedding photo.

Any advice or thoughts?

Hey there, congrats on your wedding! I hope you'll share some pictures with us when you get them. Marriage announcements are becoming less common nowadays, but generally the rule is to send them as soon as possible. I have never heard of a limit however, so I think you can send them whenever you are able to.

Hi bvibride! Wedding announcements are supposed to be sent ASAP (day after the wedding) and several etiquette sites I checked encouraged brides and grooms to mail the announcements on the morning of their wedding day! Also I don't think your invited guests who could not attend need a wedding announcement, because they received the invitation so they knew it was happening Smiley smile

I'd skip announcements and do a nice holiday card instead! Or if you've "announced" the marriage on social media then you're probably all set!
