Alternative Catholic Wedding Processional Songs

Athena, on March 23, 2015 at 11:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

So understanding that I cannot have any secular music for the processional I really really would like an alternative to the bridal march, spring, and the trumpet tune. Any suggestion for more modern/mellow processionals that are still good with the Church?

We used "The Prayer" and for the recessional "All I Ask of You" (ok'ed by Fr.)

It might be really helpful to ask the music director at the church to provide you a list of songs that are approved. Then you can go online & search for them to hear what they sound like. Pretty sure my English is amazing there but I've only had 1 cup of coffee so far...

Pachelbel's Canon. Super pretty and church appropriate.

Oh, and Bridal March (Here Comes the Bride) is not allowed in the Catholic Church-it's considered a secular piece.

Thanks everyone I will look into those ones!

Rynney1979 thanks I will ask her next time I am in town. I never knew that about the bridal march, then again haven't been to many catholic weddings as an adult.
