Alterations for wedding dress

Colleen, on January 11, 2022 at 3:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 6
We have been going over the budget and I realized that I didn’t allot a large amount for alterations. I’ve been working hard to lose some weight and the dress I ordered may need to be taken in and I know I want to lessen the very deep neckline. Does anybody have any idea how much alterations usually are? Thanks!

This is really dependent on where you live, how the dress is made and how easy the changes are to make, but it seems common for them to be about $500-800 in the US?

This is varied on where you live.

If you go to a private seamstress instead of a wedding dress store it will save you some money. I got mine altered in the Bay Area, CA at a private seamstress.

He put in a five point bustle and took up the straps and added bra cups. The total was $290

It's hard to give an "average cost" for alterations because it totally depends on each dress, but most brides tend to spend between $300-800 on dress alterations.

Here are a few helpful discussions you should check out where lots of brides shared their alterations cost and what it involved:

How much did you spend on dress alterations?

How much are you paying for wedding dress alterations?

My alterations at David's Bridal came to $175 and that was just to shorten the dress and shorten the straps. It was kind of a lot for just that in my opinion...

That’s close to what I budgeted and I agree , for what they did it seems like a lot but everything is so much more expensive once you add the word “wedding”, right?
