Aisle runner timing?

Joanna G, on March 20, 2013 at 9:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Does the aisle runner come out before the bridal party? Or after them and just for the bride?

I think it is what Glennda said. I remember watching a Four Weddings and the girls were complaining about the aisloe runner being out for the WP and some guests...but thats just in their opinion (girls on that show will complain about anything to help low score someones wedding LOL)

I usually see the aisle runner pre-installed, before the guests even arrive. However, they usually restrict access to the center aisle until the bridal procession begins.

I was wondering about this too, because mine is delicate and i dont want it all dirty and stuff by the guests walking on it but my mom keeps telling me to have it rolled out before the guests arrive. If i do it just for me, then i have to have someone jump up right after the last bridesmaid passes him/her and roll it out, in the two seconds between the end of the bridesmaids and the music begins for me.

My MIL thought it was just for me too but I was thinking the same thing as you Angel... that someone is going to jump out and have to do this. Maybe for BP and me? OR have a designated aisle roller outter... Smiley smile

If i do that, im going to ask my sister's 16-yr-old nephew to do it, for him to sit in the aisle seat in the very back row, and that way he can follow two seconds behind the last bridesmaid, rolling out the runner as he goes. Then when he reaches the front, he can circle around to stand near the wall until i finish my trip down the aisle, then he can return to his seat.

In my experience, aisle runners are typically secured before the ceremony with the center aisle being blocked off and guests being seated through the side aisles. This alleviates the pressure for whoever is in charge of rolling the aisle runner out (it may not roll out as easily as you'd like it to) and also ensures that the runner is secured at least on both ends (depending on your type of flooring or indoors/outdoors: double-sided tape, pins, weighted objects, etc.).

Im sewing some heavy metal washers on the perimeter, inside the canvas so itll weigh it down. Im also going to have him roll it out down my hallway so we can see how it will unroll

We are putting the runner down pre -ceremony and blocking access down the aisle. We are forcing our guest to use the outside aisles to get to their seats. Our bridal party will walk on the aisle runner. If you decide to do this you will have to get the fabric runner and NOT the paper as the paper will tear very easily. ( my planner told me this).

I have always seen runners rolled from the front of the church not the back

They are a PITA to roll out and definately need two people if they have a rope to hold onto. I have removed the rope and put a dowel in there and it helps a lot. Normally the minister stands on the end of it to keep it down.

Yes im doing my own. Its very simple, just very time consuming and tedious. I just got one of those thin runners from Walmart ($20) and hot glued petals to a 4' piece of it. I used a wooden spoon to press them down into place. The petals are $16 for 1000 if you buy at walmart, cheaper online. When we are able to go to the church again, i will measure the aisle and buy a double-wide piece of canvas, sew the washers inside, sew it closed, and then sew the 4' pieces of finish material on top. That way it wont rip or get bunched up under my dress. Plus a 4' piece is a LOT easier to handle than a 100' piece
