Will you have an after party? Why or why not?

Absolutely! Our wedding ends at 10 and is on the beach along a strip with beach bar after beach bar. It's common to bar hop in your wedding clothes after. I'm looking forward to this almost as much as the wedding!

To each their own, but I seriously don't understand afterparties after weddings...our reception is only lasting about 3 hours, and then we are leaving for our honeymoon. Our union is not about partying!

We are having a daytime church wedding that'll go from noon until about 5pm (reception with food and alcohol in the parish hall from 1-5). While we are not hosting any kind of formal after party, I really hope to spend more time with friends and family around the hotel bar and restaurant for a while that night!

That’s what we are doing. We picked a hotel for room blocks that shares a parking lot with a local bar. We checked with the bar and they said they had plenty of capacity. We thought it was the perfect solution to extending the wedding fun without paying an extra $1000 to extend the reception itself. Also guest can get the hotel shuttle back to the hotel and then walk from bar to hotel when they are done and won’t have to figure out getting home or back to the hotel at all.

    Oh absolutely!
Our hotel has a bar and lounge area inside of it that we are able to use for any after party we might have.

I know I might be tired but my family is a family of partiers. We party for any and all occassions so my wedding will be no exception.

We did not. Our reception ended at 11. I think I woke up at 6 that morning and was completely exhausted by the end of the night. I just wanted to get to the hotel room, take of my gown, shower, and go to bed. Which is exactly what I did. Haha.

No we will not because we will be driving an extra two hours on our wedding night to get to the hotel so we can get on a 14 hour flight the next morning with very little additional travel.

We sre going to a local bar that had agreed to stay ooen until 1am after our reception (my reception is from 7 to 11pm). Its also downtown on a popular street. This way we dont have to foot the bill for anyone wanting to party a little longer

Nay, we have to be up at 5 AM the next day to go on our honeymoon, so we're getting out of there by 9.

No way! Sleep will be much needed.

Our reception ends ends at midnight (my life motto is nothing good happens after midnight) and we will be going the traditional route of going straight to the honeymoon. We’re just going away for the weekend with a big honeymoon later, but I’m looking forward to that alone time after the wedding.

Yep! And our guest shuttle is by the day, vs. by the hour, so they’re actually going to hang around and take everyone to the after party. It’s only 10 mins from the hotel, but this is much easier than everyone trying to get individual Ubers.

Yay! We are heading to Duval Street (for those familiar with Key West) and I plan on hanging around Sloppy Joe's for a few hours with my new Hubby and friends/family! I can't wait!

Our reception ends at 11:30 pm. We are going back to the hotel and will probably hang out at the bar with anyone that wants to attend.

We will be hosting a catered brunch the next morning for the family and friends that stay at the hotel.

Yea! Because of the availability of our ceremony venue we had to have an afternoon reception, but I knew I'd want the party to go on all night so I could spend more time visiting with everyone, especially out of state relatives. Hosting an after party was our solution, and holding it at the guest hotel meant we didn't have to worry about anyone over-indulging and driving unsafely, everyone could change into comfy clothes if they wanted, and people could drift in and out whenever they needed. I'm really glad we had this.

I think FH and all his friends and family (coming from Ireland) really want an after party, as they're used to weddings going into the wee hours of the morning. We truly search high and low for a venue where we didn't have time restrictions, but alas, everyone has to be out at 10 and as it's kinda in the mountains, I don't want anyone driving anywhere or bar hopping. As much as I wanna party, is it selfish I just want to enjoy my man afterwards in our nice suite? (Even if he'll be snoring within 5 minutes!) I say after parties are awesome if guests are staying nearby and there's some convenient places to party!

Nope. I'm going to be drained enough. Neither of us are terrible social so it's not for us.

I used to bartend at a local pub and a decent chunk of our guests are friends we know from the pub so you'll never guess where we are having the after party??

We did not. Our day was extremely long and by midnight when our wedding ended we wanted to be alone. We actually went to our hotel changed clothes and went and had breakfast together by that time it was 2am.
