Im trying to figure out what to do with my hair. I cut my hair into like the old Rihanna and now im natural. I do not wear my hair out due to the texture and length right now. Ive had a sow-ins for the past year, due to all the money I was spending and lack or care my hair was getting Ive switched over to lace front wigs. (I know what your thinking)

So the lace front which I actually pull my edges out of, always looks ten times better than the weaves I pay 250 for! They last longer and I get TONS of compliments. This week only I have gotten about 15 compliments just from guys (who think it mine). The ladies have commented as well thinking its a sowin and cant tell its a wig even standing right next to me. They fall better, look better and dont bunch at the neck.

I know it seems ive answered my own question but I guess im still apprehensive. I wanted to know if any of you HAVE or THINKING to do a wig as well. Wants your views on a wig vs weave

Thanks in Advance Divas!

Aah!! The hair dilemma, my hair is cut really short right now and I have done well with micro braids in the past, so come Feb 2012 I will be letting my hair grow back out as I will be doing the invisible miro's for the wedding and will not have to worry about hair on our honeymoon cruise.

I'm natural too! Have been for 3 years, and stopped flat ironing 2 years ago. I thought about wearing a wig for the big day, but just decided I will get it flat ironed and style it. But I'll go through a few practice runs.

My mother has breast cancer and when the chemo took her hair out, she cried. To show her that hair is not what makes us beautiful I cut all of mine off too. It is growing back now but I don't really like short hair. Hers is growing better than mine! What I'm saying is no matter what you decide you will be beautiful. I'm sure I will have some sown in on my day because I'm not chancing that glue with all the dancing I plan to do! lol

    Good luck hun!

I think that you should go for whatever looks good on you, the style of your dress, honeymoon plans, and the mother-of-them-all...BUDGET! $1500 is an insane amount to pay for a hair weave for the average woman. You can be beautiful on a budget too! Just be careful with the lace fronts. Even the good ones can sometimes shift or act faulty. I plan on getting a sew, but you might want to have a dress rehearsal with the wig if that is what you decide to go with.

Wow 1500 just for hair is crazy. I am wearing a sew-in and will pay no more then 250 for it. It's really all about the person doing the hair and if they can actually do it well. My hairdresser is good at what she does so...find someone who is a master at what you want.

At first I was considering getting a lace front when I was going to do a low chignon style but I finally settled on a style that goes with my dress (mermaid fit & strapless). I am probably going to get it sewn-in. And paying **** dollars IMHO is just crazy. It's places here in Tx that do amazing work and don't even charge that much. I have been doing quickweaves for a little while now since I need it longer to grow it out for the sew-in. I had it cut into a mohawk. And my hair always looks nice and I didn't pay two legs for it. I think the hairstyle i want for the wedding, she has in at least 20". So i will probably order it online.

    1st pic - hair cut i have

2nd pic - quickweave I have in right now

3rd pic - hairstyle I am getting for the wedding

There is a huge difference in quality in picture 2 and 3. I am sure that picture 3 hair alone cost a lot more than 250. It's 20-22 inches and thick. Let's not say that 1500 is insane. I live in Chicago and pay that every 8 weeks and I make my appointments months in advance because obvious that many women are paying that price as well. I am not saying you can't get it done on a budget. What I am saying is that for quality you pay more. My stylist always tell me stories of women who want the look of celebrity hair but don't want to pay the money. You all will look great regardless. I just feel if you are going to wear a wig or weave don't cheap on it. If you want to save money skip the extensions and wear you hair or a hair piece. It's just an opinion but please don't think that 1500 on quality hair and application is ridiculous. It cost to have good stuff!

CW: I'm with you on that. Here in Boston things are crazy expensive too. The wedding really brought that home when I read about what other brides on here were paying for stuff.

    EDIT:

Everone Else: If you can get great stuff where you live then that's awesome. But please don't knock the rest of us who aren't so fortunate.

Andrene, I did not knock anyone and if it came of that way that wasn't my intentions. I just offered my opinion, which the original poster asked for, and gave my advice. Since I have natural hair and wear extensions, I felt that my two cents might be of value. If I could find grade A quality hair for 250, I would be the first in line and to tell others where to get it. As I mentioned before you can get a sew-in for a lot less but there would be a noticeable difference in quality. Some people are OK with that and that I understand. I just wanted to be clear that if you are looking for a top notch hair job be prepared to spend well over 1000 dollars. Regardless of where you live in the country.

Thanks everyone! just to be clear! I DO NOT wear my lace front like most people I do not glue them or have them sitting on top of my head. I have then place wear my hairline is exposed which also helps to add to the natural look of it. What im going to do is take pics in a few of them and to get some feed back and see what you guys feel. As far as it being a go for the wedding. I already know they look good b/c I wear them all the time and now one every knows it a wig mostly b/c my real hair line is also out. So dont even think its weave just that its mine Ok thanks for all the feedback . Lets all keep in touch regarding our wedding styles. Please looks for future post from me.

Thanks again to all the brides on here!

$1500 for a weave is stupid. (sorry. Not a personal attack to you. But it's a bit crazy.) I've had sew in's that look amazing for $100 and some that looked so so for $250. It depends on the hair you buy and the person doing the sew in. Just because someone knows how to braid and sew tracks to them doesn't mean they are a good stylist.

I've gone natural (Haven't had a relaxer since April) and I'm going to do microbraids.

And it's all about supply and demand. People get away with charging $1500 to sew tracks to braids because some women have been conditioned to think that's acceptable and pay it without questioning it. If women said "no way!" to that price, stylist wouldn't charge it.

Anyway, that's why I went natural. I couldn't imagine paying almost $10k a year for hair maintenance.

@CW, of course the 2nd & 3rd pic look different. If you read what I said, I stated that my hair looks nice and just that's the style I currently have right now. If you pay 1400 every 8 weeks, that's good but some of us can't afford that and even if we could, I doubt it would be that crucial. But I don't knock you.

@Miss Tattoo, I totally agree. You can pay a crapload of money for hair and to get it done, but if your stylist does a shi**y job, then it doesn't matter in the end how much you spent.

I agree with Miss Tattoo 100% its all about supply and demand. you have a big name or you've done a celebrity before than you can charge that much, CW hair doesn't look any different from any $300 weave i've seen. But we dont have to argue a difference of opinion its whatever makes each one of us comfortable. As you can see both my hairstyles look nice and ive never even thought to pay that much. So its more about the stylist and hair choice.

My main focus was the option of a weave or wig and C.W kinda took it to another place...although I get what she was saying, price points was not the subject of my post. I wanted opinions on what would be best are far as look, durability and if anyone has done a wig

I have never rocked a busted ratty detectable weave but never ever paid 1500 either as a bride and groom who is paying $30k plus for my wedding. Thats not even a option and im still bummed about the total cost in general.

Anyway look for future post from me w/wig options

Im getting a sew in for my engagement pictures and it will be my first time ever. Im natural now, wasnt in my avatar but my hair is that length now. Im worried about humidity and water....getting the pics taken on the beach. Mine will be 175 but that doesnt include the hair.

I think someone mentioned this before, about what kind of dress are you wearing or something. Either way it goes, if the lace wig matches with your theme and dress, then go for it. No point of wasting money on weave if the wig will actually look better, you know? I'm natural too, and the last time I got a weave was soooo long ago! I love being natural, by the way! I'm one of those who wears her out a lot, and I will wear my natural hair at my wedding. not sure what style i will do yet!

Anyway, keep us posted. Good luck!

Chelle didn't mean to offend you. My point is inline with what you are asking for. You stated that you want durabilty. Forget that installation, go to whoever you want. The hair itself is what is important. What drives that price of hair is where is from, how it's collected and the treatment. Good hair that doesn't shed, tangle, dull, matte, holds up to humidity, salt water etc. is expensive. I commented because this is who I am. I am in entertainment and I KNOW about hair. I know distributors, manufacturers etc. For example "good hair" for weaving should be hand tied not machine wefted. This eliminates shedding and also allows more natural movement. If you think you hair looks natural, stand by a fan. I'll bet it lacks movement throughout. Ethic hair from Cambodia, Brazil, Malaysia is more expensive because unlike India, women don't donate their hair. Indian hair is great and a little less expensive but more that 250 for sure.
