African American Bride Hairstyle for destination wedding

T'Andrea, on February 13, 2019 at 1:46 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

I have been searching for months for a hairstyle that will work for the ceremony but will also last through the vacation/honeymoon. Background. getting married in Fiji in two months. We will be in Fiji for 12 days. The wedding is on day 3. I have natural hair and it is basically cut in a mohawk. I can't wear sew-ins or any of the other glued weaves( I don't even know what they are called lol) I was originally thinking of a crochet style, but a hairstylist told me not to because I will be in and out of water and it may get mangled or loosen up and start to come out! Another thought was some type of braided style or getting my hair braided down then attaching one of those big buns on it for the ceremony and then for the rest of the trip I could just add in some crochet braids myself. IDK! I need help. Any suggestions

Hey T'Andrea! Yeah I definitely wouldn't do a crochet with being in & out of water. I'm all natural too and wearing a sew in, it's not glued at all but still wouldn't want to be in and out of the water a lot.

I would shoot for either box braids or senegalese twist and just have them styled on wedding day.

I would love to have my hair out but with the humidity and the fact the ceremony will be on a sand bank in the middle of the ocean. By time we took the boat ride to get out there my hair would be done for lol

I love the idea of senegalese twists or box braids. You can keep them down for your trip but do a simple updo with them for the ceremony. What I found on Pinterest:

GIRL!!!! This is the hardest thing with out hair. I think some cute thin Senegalese twists with the mohawk cut is very easy to maintain and can be styled ro beautifully. Now this fro I have no idea what to do with it

Hey ladies, so I know how I want my hair now. I been on youtube all day lol. I want short passion twist. But I'm unsure on the installation technique. You can do them like regular box braids, the rubberband method or the plait and crochet method. I'm guessing the box braids method would hold up while in FIJI. Do y'all think the passion twist would hold up? What do y'all think?
