Advice on selling a wedding dress

Advice on selling a wedding dress 1
Hi there!
I'm hoping for some advice on selling a previous wedding dress. I bought this a couple years ago and then the pandemic happened. Wedding was post-poned and we realized we weren't right for each out. Since then, I've found the one who I'm meant to be with and we are getting married later this year. Although I absolutely love this dress and I never wore it, I want to get a new dress.

I've tried listing this one on FB market and groups, but all I get are scammer messages. Any suggestions? I've had it up on stillwhite.com for almost a month and no takers. It's never been altered.

It can take months for something to get sold on Stillwhite, don't lose hope! Postmark is another option, but that's the same. I have stuff that's been listed on Poshmark for a year and still no buyers. If you don't want to wait, you can donate it. But if you want $$ for it, you need to wait for a buyer. It's not as if there are thousands of people looking for one exact style and size.

It might help if you have pictures of it being worn, either a model wearing that style, yourself, or put onto a dressmakers dummy. Hanging a dress distorts its shape and is hard to envision what it looks like

How much do you have it listed for? Most of the time even if a dress hasn't been worn, people aren't going to be willing to pay anywhere near tag price for it.

You should post pictures with it on that way they can imagine themselves in it! Have a fun little photo shoot with a friend or something!

The market is flooded with unused dresses because of the state of the world. I have friends who have been trying to sell for 2 years with low ball offers.

Maybe you could try a consignment shop. I personally am hesitant to buy an expensive dress that I haven't tried on.

Wow what a beautiful gown! I have two dresses and like you have had a lot of scammers on FB. I also have them in still white and Poshmark. However I have a lot of brides lowballing me. At this point I am going to donate them to military brides who cannot afford wedding dresses. I realized that even if I sell it the shipping cost will be ridiculous. Good luck!

    Thank you!
I had no idea that you could do that! I'd prefer to sell the dress so I can put it towards a new dress. However, if I can't sell it that would be an amazing route to go! Would you mind sending me the info for that??

I would rather sell mine too and get paid for it not that I need a new dress I need to put money towards a new one but it would just be nice to have some cash to spend on something else I like. But if I can’t this I thought was a worthy cause.

Thank you! If it didn't hold those memories of my ex, I'd wear it, but I just want a fresh page. Ya know?? I haven't found one yet, but we're going next month!

I second the motion for a consignment shop, and I agree that pictures of you in it might help it sell better. Way back when, I actually looked on FB Marketplace myself. The dresses that caught my eye the most and compelled me to respond were the ones where I could actually see the dress on a person, particularly a person about my size. Have you tried eBay? You might have better luck there in terms of your asking price. Again, though, take some photos of you in the dress, and maybe add a note that reads something to the effect of "I only wore this dress for these pictures." Good luck with both selling this one and finding a new one!
