Adult only on save the date

Megha, on May 23, 2019 at 10:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
We have a December wedding in California, most of the guests will be from out of town. Dinner have already did they plan on making this a family vacation and bringing their children along. We plan on having an adult only reception. Is it tacky to put "Adult only wedding and reception" on the save the date?

Yes. I don't think that belongs on the save the date. Definitely put it on the website, and only address the thing to the people you're inviting. Don't use The Smith Family. And get the word out through your parents and friends.

Yes this. People may still bring kids and have one of the parents stay with them and the other go to the wedding.

    Hey Megha!

As the pp’s have suggested, I would recommend leaving this information off of the STD’s. To circulate the information of your adults-only reception, I would ask your family and close friends to spread it through word of mouth.

You should address the invitation to the parents only, and if you wish you can fill in the RSVP card before sending with the names of the parents only.

There is a really helpful article in the ideas section that I think would help you out with this - Yes, You CAN Have an Adults-Only Wedding. Here’s How.

I’m just telling you, I followed all of the above advice and people didn’t get it. They are still trying to bring uninvited kids.

I would just address the envelope to just the adults! Maybe list your website, and put it there?

My thought is.... Whether it’s on the STD or the website, the message is the same no matter where it’s written. Plus you want to get the word out sooner than later. So I’d say to go ahead and put it on the STD, the website, the invite and word of mouth. With the STD, they’ll receive ample notice and already have it in their minds to make arrangements as needed.
