Also, I know it's illegal to smoke outside in Colorado but as with elsewhere that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

@miami, yeah but the cops here in Colorado are much more sensitive to following the weed laws since it is still federally illegal. There are HUGE fines and fees and pretty much everyone can recognize weed smell now as we are all way too exposed to it. Even those of us, like me, who have never used weed or been around weed smokers before can recognize it when there's just a small amount.

But op, you have two more elections between now and your wedding and knowing Denver, the laws will probably change more towards being weed friendly by then

Oh and I work in a hotel in the middle of downtown Denver. We charge you a $250 fee if you bring weed into your room and the scent stays behind, even if you claim you didn't smoke it in the room.

Hi sarah. I'm commenting/asking because I truly am curious ... Will you inform your vendors (DJ and photographer) that it's 420 venue? What happens if your vendor finds out upon arriving and is upset/concerned for their own well being?

Of course I have worst case scenario thoughts right now but I would let your vendors know your plans. It may be legal but it's still so new that I bet most vendor contracts don't have a 420 clause written into their contracts.

She said smoking outside but if that is illegal than her whole plan is a no go. I wouldn't suggest doing it indoors just like you wouldn't allow people to smoke cigarettes.

OP I suggest finding a privately owned venue. If they allow it no laws have been broken. Even if you are stepping outside to smoke you can on private property.

We are getting married in Colorado also. FSIL said instead of a wedding we are having a weeding. LOL! Granted we didn't go looking for a marijuana friendly venue, I'm sure people will still partake at some point on their own

I love this thread. I can't touch the stuff again until FH is retires from the military, but I wish I could go to a weeding! It sounds fun, and as long as everyone knows what it is, they can make a decision to attend or not. Also, if it's a 420 friendly venue, I'd be willing to bet they have a preferred vendors list of people who are also 420 friendly.

And for the 4th time, OP said OUTSIDE. So you are not getting anything in your system unless you want to.

@Alecia you can keep pretending the question was about having a venue where everyone is blazing up inside and forcing guests and vendors to breath in the smoke, but the fact of the matter is OP specifically stated she was looking for a venue that wouldn't freak out if she smoked outside. Calm down. I realize other people made suggestions for smoking inside, but OP did not say she was going to do this. You can easily spin something out of control if you choose to look at the worst case scenario. All I am saying is don't assume that she was planning on smoking inside with children and other people when she did not state this.

I'm gonna ignore the part about "respected members of the community" because it came off as a bit high horse like and I am hoping that is not what you were going for. I am well aware of how threads work and respond to quite a few myself when I have the free time.

My mother's asthma is severely re-active to smoke, She had to leave a wedding early this year, because there were a lot of smokers, and a cigar bar. Even though it was set-up on a outdoor terrace, just the opening and the closing of the doors were enough to get her sick. An inhaler and oral Rx helped, but her eyes still burned. And she was sitting at the opposite of the room, than the doors. Sometimes "outside" isn't enough ...

I'm not lucky enough to be getting married in Colorado, so I plan to bring edibles in a white clutch. They're becoming my preferred way to get high anyway.

I think this is extremely inappropriate considering there are so many people against this and you can't guarantee all your guests will be ok with this. Just because you are doesn't mean that you shouldn't take into the consideration of all your guests that are coming to you enjoy your special day with you. Not be around weed the whole time
