4 days away...dress doesn't fit :(

Andrea, on September 24, 2013 at 6:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

When I ordered my dress, the lady took my measurements and told me to order a 10 (I tried on a 12). So, I ordered the 10, and it has NEVER fit me. My weight has fluctuated a tiny bit (maybe by 5 pounds) over the past 6 months, but the dress has always been small. At my fitting a few weeks ago, she said she would take it out as much as she could. I tried it on tonight, and it is still too small. Smiley sad It zips, but it is all bunched up at the waist, because it should lay a little lower (if that makes sense). Basically, it's too tight around my stomach/butt area.

I'm so sad. Smiley sad The worst part is that the seamstress had an emergency and wasn't even there, so I couldn't even ask if there was anything else we could do. I'm going to call tomorrow on my lunch break, but I'm feeling really depressed about it. I wasn't feeling nervous at all for the wedding-only excitement-and then this. Smiley sad

Can you buy spanx? You can buy 2 pair and double up on them!

I do have a pair of spanx that I am going to bring along and try on with my dress on Friday when I pick it up. I'm hoping that may help a little, but sometimes it creates an extra roll at the top of the spanx. I'm going to try it, though!

Honestly, if that's the recommended size the suggested based on your measurements and it was too tight you really should have demanded that they order you a new size. However, too late, you should maybe see if you can get some sort of refund!

Get the high-waisted spanx shorts, they'll smooth your whole midsection. Also, you could try cutting out all carbs for the next 4 days. That always slims my midsection a bit. Good luck!

I'm definitely going to eat mainly veggies and lean protein this week (YUCK!).

@HallowenBride-I agree, but of course I thought, "Oh, it's fine, I'll lose a little weight." And here I am. UGH!

Also avoid as much salt and high sodium food until wedding. Sometimes extra water weight can add as much as 5 pounds.

Also...sit-ups. They'll help even in a short time! I promise!

I honestly would say F-it and go buy myself something off the rack that fit. That way I was comfortable. Nothing makes me more self conscious than being uncomfortable, but then again thats me.

@Anniebell-my fiance told me to go spend the money and get something off the rack, but that would just add so much more stress IMO. Shopping for a dress was tough work in the first place!

I bought some spanx tonight that go from my thigh to my boobs. Very attractive, I must say. Hopefully they will help a bit.

I'll be cutting out soda, most carbs, and salt in the next 4 days. Fingers crossed!

Also if you have time, put on sweats and lots of clothes and go on the elliptical, treadmill or bike. You can lose 5 lbs easily from the water weight. Also as everyone said, water, sit ups, salads and soups.

Drink lots of water!!! Don't eat salt!

Maybe do a juice cleanse which while it isn't healthy long -term and I wouldn't noramlly recommend it - it may help you drop a bit in 4 day s just for the wedding

I was in the same boat up to the day of the wedding but my dress was a corset dress so I had to do the back panel (The night before) in order to get into my dress.

Since your time is almost here I would try the spanx and corset
