Who else is getting married in 2+ years? How much planning have you actually done so far? I’m getting married on December 31, 2020 and I feel so lost with planning (or even getting all of my ideas straight) since my wedding is so far away. Anyone else feeling this way?

It's my 3rd marriage, first for him, but never had a total reception before !!! Late May 2020, we're in Chicago suburbs and most his family is in Michigan so beach wedding on the lake it is. I've started guest list, picked wedding party( my four teenagers) and colors. Looking at venues, have one in mind but director said pricing isn't out yet for 2020 so can't get a quote or book till then, photographers(anyone doing videographer too), djs/photo booth. Pinterest ideals I like for dress/hair, decor style, cake, invities. Signed up for a bridal show never been before, got 4 free tickets is that the norm or do most charge a fee? Doing as much as I can early I mean we all have busy lives right and time flies. I love the planner timeline and budget calculator on weddingwire it really helps get some organization.

Our wedding date is March 1st 2020. We got engaged 1/1/18. So far we have our venue booked with the security deposit down and I have my dress locked down. Im going to order my dress next March. Otherwise Ive just been using Pinterest to find ideas for colors. I bought my jewelry and my bridal party's earrings.
The first few months all I could think of was the wedding. Now we are taking our time planning. Just enjoying our engagement together and running ideas by each other every so often. We will probably book our photographer and other major vendors next year. The first thing we did was discuss our budget. I felt getting our venue early was the most important goal. We're saving a lot by booking 2019 prices.
Don't worry you have plenty of time! Just write down the things you guys like and want. Even if it doesnt seem to match together right away. You'll be surprised how things fall into place and how easy it is to make decisions later on. Good luck!

We had a 2+ year engagement. Got engaged 2/2/16 and getting married 6/8/18. I did ALOT of research on vendors and what the costs of everything would be. Start with a realistic budget. Don't budget for 60k if you know that's not even possible. Do you have a venue since you mentioned 12/31? No venue booked= no date. Keep in mind, that's a major holiday, so if you have no venue, I'd suggest starting there after the budget. Most importantly, don't forget to enjoy all of it.

We had that too. I have a son from a previous relationship. He’s four and I needed someone to watch him. My aunt tipped us off that’s its a scam. But It still doesn’t get me around the fact that no one takes us seriously. I tell them 2020 and they all of a sudden can’t answer any questions. It’s annoying. Even when I found my wedding dress at David’s bridal. She was trying to set up my “profile” I told her the date we had selected and she was like “oh I’ll put December 31 of 2020 since you don’t have a date set. “ it’s infuriating

I'm gettting married December 12th, 2020 I've been able to do most of the planning and detail already, but I'm trying to narrow down my list of 14 bridesmaids, everyone tells me that's too many, but my fiance has 4 groomsmen so we have to ask my cousins and still maybe 9 groomsmen, so some groomsmen will have 2 girls so it should even out. and having difficulty deciding my maid of honor, i already chose my sister as my matron of honor, but her she doesn't have the time or money to plan. these next 2 years are gonna go by fast.

We are getting married September 26, 2020. We want to be free of wedding "debt" so we started early. So far we have met with wedding planner, venue, and contacted our caterer. Since things are so overly priced even if you go simple I don't think you can ever be too early.

We are planning on either May or June of 2020. So far, I’ve Skyped with several wedding planners to get organized and figure out which venues we admire. 2020 seems far, yet it’s so close.

Yes! Myfianc and I are going between August and November of 2020! My best friend is getting married in May 2020 and already has her venue, DJ, photographer, videographer, caterer, and make up artist booked. I just got engaged less than a month ago, but seeing how much she already had planned made me feel so far behind!

First of that is my birthday so September 20th is good luckSmiley winking I'm getting married December 12th, 2020 and we are booking by may 11th, we just have to sign our contract now. I feel like booking up to 2.5 to 3 years in advance is acceptable. however, I've found that a lot of banquet halls don't allow you to book more than 18 months in advance.

Are you having a theme for your wedding? If so that might help you narrow down your venue choices.

We are both huge movie buffs and I love old Hollywood. So we're having an Old Hollywood Movie themed wedding so I knew I really wanted an old movie theater so were are having everything at Paramount theater in Aurora. For example, If you're doing any kind of a rustic theme there are some gorgeous barn settings perfect for weddings. for more of an earthy theme a garden setting, and etc.

Some woman are just like that. I had a friend who had her whole wedding planned in the first week of her engagement. My fiance and I got engaged early march, but we aren't public about it yet because he hasn't asked me with a ring yet, which will be in June. So we are secretly planning everything. My sister was engaged for a year before she even asked her bridal party to stand up 8 months before her wedding. Everyone's process is different. Your not behind. On your dashboard on this website you'll see that on your wedding check list it provides you a timeline. So i'm pretty certain your right one track. Your'e fine. Just breathe!

And the only reason we are booking this early is because if we book within the first 30 days of our initial meeting they give us a free upgrade to a premium bar so how can we pass that up.
