2 garters? What is the 2nd one for?

Jennifer, on March 14, 2013 at 4:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

Ok so I may be crazy, but all of the garters I have looked at have pictures of 2 garters. I know one is for me? But what is the 2nd one for? I feel like I should already know this but I haven't involved in many weddings...

Yup, your FH keeps one to hang on the rear view mirror of his car Smiley smile and then the other one is tossed to a lucky single guy!

Lynzey, I never new the story behind that. Makes sense.

Do brides even wear stockings anymore?? LOL when my BFF got married 3 yrs ago, her mom was mortified that she wasn't wearing stockings! It was so "improper" haha

@HisMrs - I wear stockings... However, even corporations are loosening their requirements on wearing them. They even let us wear peep toe shoes (only two toes showing though) GASP!

Edit: FYI - I'm 23 years old. Not a grandma and not really old-fashioned either

I know one is for the toss and one is for a keepsake but I can’t imagine the guy that catches it actually taking it home… haha. I can see him being like “here guys, I don’t want this,” maybe it’s just my group of friends and family.

Ohhhh this almost my exact garter...this was my something blue and tiffany blue is one of my accents. Here is mine...waiting impatiently Smiley smile It should be here between tomorrow and early next wk Smiley smile

But yes, using mine as that: 1.) Keepsake (IDK about hubby putting it in his car though, lol) and 2.) to toss.

Stockings are rarely seen these days for sure...so my mind never even conceptualized that being the reason, lol. However, for the style we chose it doest have the elastic rubber as the "crinkly" lacy ones. More so designed to fit. When you order, she will ask for a thigh measurement of where you want to wear it.

Yeah IDK about him putting on the rearview either because he drives a company truck for a rather large company in our area..and we share 1 truck. Lol

So how are you deciding which one to wear and which one to throw? They are both pretty. I don't know how to pick between the 2. lol

Right Lindsay W!! My guys won't want it either!

Normally you toss the less decorated one - which it looks like your bottom one is, but yours are both so pretty you could keep either!

@PurpleSun - your comment reminded me that I once turned down a job offer that would have required me to wear stockings - even during the AZ summers! The recruiter asked, "Didn't you notice all the women who interviewed you had stocking on?" I had - I thought it was just a coincidence...and a fashion faux pas for the woman wearing reinforced toes with sandals. She couldn't believe that was my reason for passing on the job!

We didn't do the toss and are naturally frugal. So we got one set of two garters. NotFroofy wore one, and I wore the other. They were our "something blue."

Like everyone has said, one is to keep and one is to throw...my problem is that I really love mine so much that I don't want to throw either. FH says that I should just get a cheap one to throw and keep both of the others, lol
