Is it frowned upon to not do a father/daughter dance OR mother/son? Will people even notice?

We want to do a petal toss during the recessional, with the petals in cones for guests. Do I put the cones on guest chairs before the ceremony? Will it be annoying for guests to hold on to during the ceremony?
