Is it frowned upon to not do a father/daughter dance OR mother/son? Will people even notice?

If none of you want to do it, don't. No will notice and no one will care. We didn't do announced entrances, cake cutting, garter toss, bouquet toss, etc. No one cared nd neither did I lol. We did do parent dances but had the music faded out within a minute and a half.

If you want to skip those dances, I say go ahead! I don't think your guests will be upset

I don't even remember the dances (that weren't the couples first dance) of any wedding I have attended. If you want to skip then go for it!

I think some people would notice but it really doesn't matter. We didn't want to cut them out entirely so we are doing them at the same time

Dances aren't required so you can do whatever you choose! I've been to weddings where both dances are done, only the father/daughter, only the mother/son, or neither! It is your day so its whatever makes you happy!

We aren’t doing them because my fiancé’s mom passed away and I wouldn’t feel right doing it with my step dad and him not being able to do it with his mom.

We're not doing mother-son dance as FHs mom passed away and he's not comfortable with dancing with his stepmom. We do plan on doing a father-daughter dance however; my dad is really looking forward to it.

My FH's parents are both gone, and I don't want to dance with my father without him being able to dance too - and he would feel awkward dancing with my mom. SO, since we both have kids, he's going to dance with his daughter and his son, and I'll dance with my sons. Still father/daughter and mother/son dances, but we're going to do them at the same time with our children. My boys won't want to dance with my then husband, but I'll totally dance with my new son and daughter! So maybe we'll partner swap! Smiley smile
