Marcus and I met in December 2011 just a few weeks after his twenty first birthday. We had only been on six dates or so before I went on a cruise with my dad and I was terrified he would write me off by the time I came back. The night I left to catch the plane he was out my house and we kissed for the first time. I even did the little leg pop! But then I was lovesick for two weeks away with no contact over the waters. But he didn't forget me! We became officially exclusive a couple weeks after I returned and he took me to his home town in Santa Barbara. We stayed at the Bacara Resort and this was about six months into our relationship. I remember driving up to the resort with the giant water fountain to greet us and then down the sandy trail to the beach. The last time I had been to a beach was in my childhood. He took my hand down to Haskell's and I thought, "No one else will be able to live up to this." I felt like I was a princess. He treats me as such daily, not only with vacations and gifts but in simple signs of affection such as cuddling me at night, knowing my favourites and absolutely diving into my interests and hobbies. I can count on him 1000% and feel safe and happy when I'm around him. In January 2016 we got manicures and pedicures together and the following weekend he took me to La Caille (a French restaurant in Utah I had been dying to go to since I was 8). We enjoyed dinner, he was certainly nervous and after dessert we headed out to go towards one of the lit up ponds. But we went the wrong way and ended up down a path away from the lights with snow beginning to fall. Instead of turning around for the perfect backdrop, he turned to me and cupped my face in his hands. He said some beautiful, intimate words, got down on one knee and I was already saying yet before he could open the box. Now we're months away from "I Do".
