What is the craziest/worst thing that happened at your wedding?

Sarah, on March 21, 2016 at 10:59 AM Posted in Married Life 0 49

Hi friends, I am looking to just get some good stories about things that happened or went wrong at your wedding! I know at my wedding, I was expecting the worst to happen so that when things did actually go wrong, it didn't seem as bad.

One thing that was really bad and almost ruined things was that my groom forgot his shirt! Our venue was about an hour away from where everyone was staying, and he only realized that he had his entire suit (minus the shirt) when we arrived at the venue. My brother (who is twice his size) gave him his baby blue button up shirt - our colors were burgundy - and let him wear it until my brother could sneak away and go to the Wal-Mart down the street and buy a white button up shirt for the groom. Apparently, my brother got back with the shirt with just enough time for him to button it up about 30 seconds before everything began. No one told me about this until the day after...

SO - tell me, what crazy things happened at your wedding??

My husband didn't pack accordingly (we stayed at hotel near the venue the night before the wedding) and forgot to bring clean underwear. He told me after that he ended up borrowing undies from my Dad!!! LOL!!! Yes.. my husband was wearing my father's freaking underwear while we said "I do". Thankfully it was brand new!!! My dad is the kind of person who brings brand new underwear and socks when he travels hahahah

I guess its not quite a crazy wedding story since no one knew (except my dad) and I didn't know until after, but I thought it was really funny!

Not my wedding, but my brother was kicked in the face during a tubing accident two weeks before his big day. It broke his nose and gave him terrible bruising around his eyes. Fortunately the swelling was mostly gone by the day of the wedding, but I had to put makeup on him so he'd look normal in pictures. I don't think my SIL's was able to breathe properly until after the wedding...

My dress was bustled the entire time, so the trail never showed Smiley sad I couldn't see the back of myself lol so I didn't notice. It still haunts me.

Other than that, nothing really bad happened, but a few funny things. DH's cousin fell madly in love with two of my BMs (both are married). He insisted on riding the limo with them at the end of the evening; two people had to convince him to get the f* out, lol.

My dad forgot his suit at our house. Thankfully we only lived about 25 minutes away and we got to the venue 2.5 hours before but it was crazy. Our photographer suggested doing a first look with my dad after I got dressed so she asked where my dads suit was because he was the only one that was just sitting around not changing. Welp my dad just looked at my mom and goes "I don't have my suit." My mom and MIL had to drive my dad back to the house to get it and he got dressed in the car on the way back. It was stressful and forced us to have to do family pictures after the ceremony but it was quick.

One of the trolleys we rented showed up two hours late and delayed the wedding by almost an hour. I'm still bitter about it - but I still got married :-D

OMG all the clothing forgetting! I'm so glad my venue is right next to the mall.... I'll be lucky if my brother (who is 22) does not get "lost" before the ceremony let alone remember to bring dress shoes or something...

@VC that so sad about your dress :[ & that kinda sounds like someone in my family lol

Our DJ was late due to a terrible accident that shut down the Skyway. He showed up 5 min before the ceremony was scheduled to start and made a few errors because he was frazzled. Nothing major, but messed up our order of events and threw me for a loop a few times.

The photographer was all up in our faces throughout the entire ceremony. She got some great shots, but really degraded our guest experience.

Nothing could steal our joy. We still got married and it was fun. These were just mild annoyances.

My man of honor got the wrong color khakis and bought navy suspenders when I already had darker ones for him to match the pants he was supposed to wear. I just let him wear what he brought, no harm done.

Our music messed up during the ceremony. The bluetooth kept disconnecting. We didn't have any exit music because of this.

After dinner it started raining so we had to have the first dance inside. Then we brought the bar inside, then it stopped raining, and my wife wanted everything back outside. So we had to move it all back out. I am sure all the guys wanted to punch her, but that woman always gets what she wants!

My BIL (bridesman) was a little tooo tipsy a little too early in the day, our entrance was fucked up because of it.

My man of honor's mom wouldn't let the chef do his job and insisted on helping set up, she dropped and entire container of homemade cesar dressing on the floor. Thankfully he brought a back ups!

I ended up getting white girl wasted that night, thankfully it wasn't until late. I still wish I wouldn't have. My mom, aunt, and MIL ended up getting me upstairs and off the bathroom floor and into bed.

Since things were a little tense after the first dance and dinner, DW's MOH's boyfriend brought out the fireball and everyone started doing shots. We went through 2 handles of fireball that night, it was hilarious! Even our officiant, who never drinks, was partaking. I think he joined me on a bathroom floor later in the night! haha

Funny thing: after dinner, I took my spanx off in one of the main floor bathrooms and just threw them in the corner. Later on someone brought them out and started waving them around like a flag! Hilarious.

I didn't like the timeline I came up with. We should have done first dance, cake, and toasts before dinner. It was too late by the time we started dancing. I feel like people got bored.

It was all little stuff, nothing ruined the night, everyone had a blast! I can laugh about a lot of it.

    Your groom forgot his shirt?

My caterer got smashed drunk at the wedding, didn't do at least 50% of the things we discussed and agreed upon, complained loudly to the owner of the property and all my guests, let one of our two proteins remain uncooked in coolers to rot overnight(meat that I had harvested and butchered myself), served under cooked pork, had only one buffet line instead of two so the line was ridiculous, left a huge mess for me, my husband, and our two friends to clean up, stained the concrete, and then charged us 2x what she quoted us (almost $20,000.), and then hopped a plane to California the next morning because she "needed a break" even though we didn't get, still haven't, and probably wont' have a honeymoon.

    Forgot his shirt, lol.

    @M OMGGG!!!!!!

My husband also confessed that he puked a handful of times at the wedding hahahah. But I didn't see, and it helped him sober up I guess, so it was all good! Mexican family... everyone was getting him to do tequila shots!

At my sister's wedding, my mom's heart went into SVT (supra ventricular tachycardia) which is just a really fast rate which she should have gone to the hospital for, but she didn't tell anyone about that part. She did tell us about anxiety and nausea and she was ill for several hours. (This was her first experience with the heart rate and later she found out she had a small hole in her heart and had it patched.)

Also, that same day, it was snowing and my dad locked his keys in his car with it still running...and his tux was inside. He had to take a crowbar and break the window to get it in time. LOL what a day.

My MIL was over 30 minutes late for pictures before the wedding. Luckily it was my SIL screaming at her on the phone and not me Smiley smile We just kept taking other pictures but it did push our family pictures into cocktail hour which we did not plan to do, and as a result DH and I never made it to our cocktail hour like we wanted to.

My BIL thanked my parents for hosting in his best man toast. We paid for 98% of the wedding ourselves. Still can't laugh about it.

Our planner had to rearrange the entire ceremony set up last minute because the canopy our decor vendor brought was larger than expected. I actually don't think this made a difference but it was still something that caused some minor craziness.

OMG m. Just read your story. I'm sorry your caterer was such a disaster--you are right that it puts these other mishaps into perspective!

I would not have paid the extra to that caterer! Especially after ruining your meat. I'd have been like come after me, bro, and let her try to sue to recover anything.

@Beka: Hopefully someone can give your brother a ride so that he doesn't get "lost" Smiley smile and thanks. I still can't believe I forgot to tell people the bustle was done so they could undo it.

One of our photographers had some sort of dental emergency and took a pain pill . . . my mother later found him napping on the sidewalk outside of the venue. We had a second photog, so it wasn't the end of the world, and they took steps to make it right afterward, but I know my mother and DH were a bit stressed out about it.

Also, my sister passed our during the ceremony. It was scary and surprising, but she was fine.
