It is impossible to talk about how we meant without mentioning the history behind where we meant, The Parting Glass. Like it or not, this Irish pub in Saratoga goes way back with me. The Parting Glass is exactly 1 year older then I. My father went there to celebrate with the Doctor (our next door neighbor) after I was born (where else would you go on St Patricks Day). I remember going there to eat as a child, play darts with friends as a teenager, celebrate the New Year as an adult, and even attend my 10 year High School reunion. It only seemed appropriate that I try to get a job there after my move back east while I persued my photography. Stuart developed a love for The Parting Glass a little later in life. His bike group would meet in Saratoga every Saturday to ride the Saratoga Mountain Bike Association Trails, aka SMBA Saturday. They had also created a tradition of going to the parting glass after their rides every Saturday. Here, no one would judge this muddy motley crew and Lynn (the saturday afternoon bartender) would provide the group with food, beer, and a bag of ice for the injured. Stuart apparently noticed me (the slightly new waitress) a few weeks prior to saying anything; and when the group sat at a table one day and I was their waitress, it was actually Jeff who said something first asking me if I was single, I said I was "very VERY single" and upon hearing my reply Jeff introduced me to his single friend Stu sitting across from him. Stu would latter say it was the second "very" that won him over. It took Stuart a week but he convinced me to go out on a date with him on the following Saturday evening after my shift at work (I had nothing to wear and went frantically shopping which made me late, fasionably late). We had our first date at a Mexican Restaurant on November 20th 2010.
