Wedding details
Matt and I, by all means, should have gotten together long before we did. Our history goes back long before our very first date, all the way back to elementary school where I was friends with his closest cousin. We first officially met when he was dating a co-worker of mine when I was a senior in high school. A couple of years later we were at the same Halloween party, but he was "fat" back then (his version of fat is my version of a full stomach) and was too shy to approach me. We were introduced again when he was kind of seeing a good friend of mine, he remembered exactly who I was but I have the memory of a goldfish so I didn't realize we already knew each other. Another couple of years later, I randomly accepted an invitation to go see a movie with a friend. After the movie, we went across the street to a bar where several of our friends were, and he re-introduced himself and we got to talking. He asked me out quite a few times, but I wasn't sure about him and kept dodging it...until we started talking about Disney. He informed me that he knows quite a lot about Disney because he grew up with three sisters who are fanatics and he quite enjoys them himself. He wanted to challenge my Disney knowledge over dinner, so I finally agreed to go on that first date. We went to Bonefish, and immediately fell into such a deep conversation (not about Disney, btw) that our waitress had to come back three times just to take our drink orders! We were basically glued to the hip after that. We faced some very challenging hardships extremely early on in the relationship, but somehow managed to pull through them and in the end it was completely worth it because we became so strong, so fast. I knew there was a reason to keep sticking it out even in the darkest hour, and I listened to my instincts. A little more than a year later, we got a Mastiff named Titan, then a few months later bought his mothers house from her. We had a lot of renovations to conquer, so we put off our housewarming party for awhile. He mentioned having one just once to me, and being the event planner that I so desperately want to be, I took off with the idea. In May 2014 we had our housewarming BBQ and were gathered around to make a toast. I knew something was off right away because he kept dragging the speech out, thanking people for random things, while fumbling around in his pocket for something. Then he told me I was the love of his life (which is an astounding thing for him to say especially in public, as he is the very definition of a manly man and is not big on PDA) and asked me to marry him. I suddenly became very aware of everyone staring at me and my stage fright took over, and instinctively turned around for a second to hide in the corner, before coming to my senses and screaming "F*$# yes!!!!". Turned out he was taking his time because I accidentally shrunk his favorite jeans the night before, and the ring was stuck in his pocket, also barring him from getting down on one knee! But our friends and family wouldn't let him get away with that, so he just let them rip when he dropped down. He had set up the whole thing to make me think the party was all my idea!
