About this venue
The Oviatt is an Art Deco-inspired wedding venue located in the former penthouse and rooftop two-level terrace in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Chic and sophisticated, this space was originally built in 1928 as a lavish penthouse for the roaring 20's king, James Oviatt. Now, an alluring event space with all of its ornate and historic details and charm, couples are welcome to celebrate their love with up to 120 of their closest loved ones.
Facilities and Capacity
Defined by its opulent ambiance, The Oviatt exudes an authentic sense of old-world charm and luxury. Inside the penthouse, couples will find a study, a living room for gathering, an elegant bedroom used typically as a "getting ready room," and a true art deco bar and cocktail lounge. The two-story rooftop terrace is typically where nuptial festivities and the culinary experience take place.
Interior features include Lalique glass decor, mahogany furniture, parquet wood floors, and many carved woodworks. Despite a seemingly niche aesthetic, the rooms have a high degree of flexibility for you to incorporate your own sense of style. Outside, the terrace is spacious and provides panoramic views of Downtown Los Angeles surrounded by city lights.
The event team is happy to erect a tent on the top level when the weather calls for it.

The Oviatt has an experienced event management team that will work with attentive care to ensure your planning up to the day you say I do is as seamless as possible. These experts have the necessary experience to help you design and flawlessly execute an unforgettable milestone celebration.
When you choose to celebrate at The Oviatt, you have access to an array of event items like banquet tables and black linens. Please inquire directly if you are interested in learning more about what The Oviatt offers to its private and wedding event hosts/guests.
While the bar programming must remain in-house, couples are welcome to bring in outside bar agencies and bartenders as long as the alcohol is purchased via The Oviatt. For culinary experiences and catering, we invite couples to tap The Oviatt event team for our preferred partner list or encourage outside catering if that is the preference.

Our Dream Wedding Venue — Truly Unforgettable
From the moment we walked into The Oviatt for our first tour, we knew we had found our dream wedding venue. What we didn’t know at the time was that the experience of working with the incredible team there would somehow be just as special as the venue itself.
From our first tour through the final moments of our wedding night, the entire process was seamless. The level of service, attention to detail, professionalism and genuine care we received was unmatched. Every question was answered, every detail was handled, and throughout the entire planning process we felt heard, supported and completely taken care of. More than anything, it never felt transactional. By the time our wedding arrived, it genuinely felt like we were celebrating with a team of friends who were personally invested in making our day extraordinary.
And then there is The Oviatt itself. There truly is nothing else like it in Los Angeles. The history, architecture, rooftop, views and Old Hollywood glamour create an atmosphere that is impossible to replicate. Seeing the space transformed for our wedding and filled with everyone we love was one of those moments we will never forget.
Our guests were absolutely blown away. We heard over and over again throughout the night and in the days afterward how beautiful the venue was, how incredible the service was and how special the entire experience felt. We wanted our wedding to feel elevated, intimate, memorable and uniquely us, and The Oviatt gave us the perfect setting to bring that vision to life.
Looking back, choosing The Oviatt was one of the easiest and best decisions we made throughout the entire wedding process. The venue is breathtaking, but it is the people behind it who make it truly exceptional.

Incredible Venue and Staff
We had our wedding at The Oviatt in June 2026, and it was one of the best days of our lives. Not only is the venue stunning and unique in so many ways (all of which will be self-evident once you see it for yourself), but the staff are truly the best. Gabe, Lindsey, and Cami are so kind, helpful, organized, communicative, and on top of everything. We knew we were in good hands and, sure enough, the entire day ran seamlessly.
One thing I especially loved was how well they accommodated our non-traditional timeline. The majority of our friends are dancers, so we made several timeline changes to maximize the dancing and overall party vibes. We had our 90 guests arrive directly into cocktail hour and kept everyone inside to explore the venue with drinks and small bites before opening the rooftop and having guests find their seats at their dinner tables. Since our ceremony was only about 15 minutes, we opted out of doing a room flip!
We had our brief ceremony on the dance floor in front of the fountain, then released everyone to the dinner buffet while our immediate family joined us back inside for portraits. Afterward, we took our bride-and-groom portraits on the upper deck rooftop before returning to finish dinner. We had a couple of short toasts and then went straight into dancing. About an hour later, we opened up dessert inside in front of the gorgeous painting, and then continued dancing until midnight.
The Oviatt team helped make our day run so beautifully, and they worked seamlessly with our day-of coordinator and other vendors. We also chose one of their preferred caterers, California Cookout, which made coordination even easier. Having such a capable team gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to actually relax and enjoy our wedding.
We genuinely could not have asked for a better venue or team. The combination of a one-of-a-kind venue and a staff who truly care allowed us to have a wedding that felt completely like us, and we would recommend The Oviatt in a heartbeat.

Book Them!
I can’t begin to express how thankful we are to have chosen the Oviatt as our wedding venue. They truly are a dreamy space filled with historic charm that creates a one of a kind guest experience. Beyond its beautiful space what makes this venue better than any other is the staff. Gabe, Lindsey, and Cami are extremely personable, knowledgeable, and take above and beyond to the next level. They consistently went out of their way to make sure everything we wanted was possible and that the day would be flawless. They are not the type of venue where you’re just a client to them, they really work with every event and every person as if you were the only event they were handling. We, unfortunately, had to switch our caterer 2 weeks before our wedding and The Oviatt Team immediately jumped in to help us find other caterers and make sure what we had originally asked for was still possible no matter what. This was beyond kind and helpful and totally unexpected. The Oviatts charm and stunning spaces feels like enough reason to book this venue however it's that staff that will make your wedding or event a once in a lifetime experience.

A perfect wedding!!
Where do we even begin?!? Hosting our wedding at the Oviatt was the best experience from start to finish. The whole team was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the entire planning process. They graciously answered my many emails and accommodated all my ideas and vision for my wedding day.
The day of the wedding was absolutely seamless. Not a single thing went wrong, and I was able to truly enjoy my day, fully trusting the venue staff to run the show behind the scenes. The venue itself is stunning and so unique. The views were incredible, it is such a hidden gem! Our guests were raving about the space the whole time. The space was perfect for our medium sized wedding, it felt cozy and intimate without feeling crowded.

Our Dream Venue: The Oviatt
Single-handedly, the best decision my fiancé (now husband) made was choosing The Oviatt as our venue. From beginning to end, the Oviatt team was professional, kind, and willing to help every step of the way.
I first found The Oviatt on wedding websites like Zola and The Knot. I thought it was a cool venue, but initially I imagined going for a more rustic, warehouse vibe. That all changed once we toured The Oviatt. As we went up the vintage-style elevator, we really didn’t know what to expect. When we arrived, Gabe greeted us warmly and gave us an informative tour of every space in the beautiful penthouse and rooftop. My husband and I were literally starstruck. The Oviatt is unlike any other venue we had ever seen. We immediately fell in love.
After the tour, we sat down with Gabe and he walked us through all the details. The Oviatt team is amazing at this, it’s so important when choosing a venue to work with people who are transparent and willing to sit down with you, hop on a call, and answer all your questions. Lindsey, the Director of Events, who you’ll most likely meet after booking, was incredible at this. I changed my bar package about five different times because I just couldn’t decide, and she was always patient and helpful while guiding me through the options. Cami was another sweetheart who always responded to my emails quickly whenever I had questions.
On the actual wedding day, everything went perfectly. From start to finish, it truly felt like perfection. I would also highly recommend California Cookout and Willow & Blooms from their preferred vendor list...they were both fantastic.
I honestly couldn’t recommend The Oviatt enough. All of our guests loved the venue as well and couldn’t stop talking about it. It was truly such a special place, and everything about the experience was just amazing. I already miss it!

Our experience with this venue was absolutely incredible. Every staff member was so kind, helpful, and professional, and they made the entire wedding process feel easy and stress-free. Everything ran perfectly, and looking back I truly can’t think of a single thing I would change. A complete 10/10 experience, we’re so grateful to the whole team!

Time Machine Wedding
The Oviatt Penthouse was the first and only venue we toured. It was love at first sight. We wanted an Old Hollywood/jazz nightclub vibe and the venue just fit the bill. The interior is fully furnished and it will transport you back in time to an Art Deco era. Very minimal wedding decorations are needed. Outside, the view of DTLA day or night will take your guest’s breath away.
Once contract was signed, the planning process was easy peasy. They have a helpful Preferred vendor list so we were able to book a great caterer and day of coordinator right away. The Oviatt planning team, Lindsey and Cami, were so kind and patient with my multiple questions.
Day of the wedding, the Oviatt staff were a super hero team. They were in constant communication with each other and my wedding coordinator to run things smoothly. Also very sweet and friendly. Shoutout to valet, security, and bartender! ❤️
