Single-handedly, the best decision my fiancé (now husband) made was choosing The Oviatt as our venue. From beginning to end, the Oviatt team was professional, kind, and willing to help every step of the way.
I first found The Oviatt on wedding websites like Zola and The Knot. I thought it was a cool venue, but initially I imagined going for a more rustic, warehouse vibe. That all changed once we toured The Oviatt. As we went up the vintage-style elevator, we really didn’t know what to expect. When we arrived, Gabe greeted us warmly and gave us an informative tour of every space in the beautiful penthouse and rooftop. My husband and I were literally starstruck. The Oviatt is unlike any other venue we had ever seen. We immediately fell in love.
After the tour, we sat down with Gabe and he walked us through all the details. The Oviatt team is amazing at this, it’s so important when choosing a venue to work with people who are transparent and willing to sit down with you, hop on a call, and answer all your questions. Lindsey, the Director of Events, who you’ll most likely meet after booking, was incredible at this. I changed my bar package about five different times because I just couldn’t decide, and she was always patient and helpful while guiding me through the options. Cami was another sweetheart who always responded to my emails quickly whenever I had questions.
On the actual wedding day, everything went perfectly. From start to finish, it truly felt like perfection. I would also highly recommend California Cookout and Willow & Blooms from their preferred vendor list...they were both fantastic.
I honestly couldn’t recommend The Oviatt enough. All of our guests loved the venue as well and couldn’t stop talking about it. It was truly such a special place, and everything about the experience was just amazing. I already miss it! -

Our experience with this venue was absolutely incredible. Every staff member was so kind, helpful, and professional, and they made the entire wedding process feel easy and stress-free. Everything ran perfectly, and looking back I truly can’t think of a single thing I would change. A complete 10/10 experience, we’re so grateful to the whole team!

Time Machine Wedding
The Oviatt Penthouse was the first and only venue we toured. It was love at first sight. We wanted an Old Hollywood/jazz nightclub vibe and the venue just fit the bill. The interior is fully furnished and it will transport you back in time to an Art Deco era. Very minimal wedding decorations are needed. Outside, the view of DTLA day or night will take your guest’s breath away.
Once contract was signed, the planning process was easy peasy. They have a helpful Preferred vendor list so we were able to book a great caterer and day of coordinator right away. The Oviatt planning team, Lindsey and Cami, were so kind and patient with my multiple questions.
Day of the wedding, the Oviatt staff were a super hero team. They were in constant communication with each other and my wedding coordinator to run things smoothly. Also very sweet and friendly. Shoutout to valet, security, and bartender! ❤️
All in all, my wedding was a magical day thanks to the Oviatt’s wonderful atmosphere. After it was all over, I received multiple messages from guests raving about my wedding. Some told me it was one of the best and most unique wedding experiences they have ever attended. So if you want an affordable venue with historical character, I highly recommend booking The Oviatt Penthouse for your wedding. -

The Oviatt made planning and enjoying our wedding exceptionally easy, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to another couple. In fact, two of our friends who'd recently gotten married at The Oviatt were the ones to recommend us the venue in the first place. They did not steer us wrong.
The initial touring and on-boarding process was seamless and attentive. We got clear answers to all of our questions and concerns, and the team had no trouble making adjustments as things evolved. The venue-related fees were all extremely reasonable for what you're getting, and we felt it was a tremendous value.
If you are someone who's overwhelmed by the planning of it all or doesn't have it in you to evaluate the hundreds of vendors out there, The Oviatt can streamline things through their vetted preferred vendors list. We used this extensively and had a similarly excellent experience with everyone we hired, from catering to photographers to floral. We were also able to find vendors from this list that were able to realize our vision while meeting our budget, which was healthy and had some breathing room but was not exorbitant.
We had a lot of extremely specific and arguably unusual requests that the venue team was happy to accommodate, even the week of. They were also there to troubleshoot when we encountered inevitable obstacles during the planning process.
The venue itself is as stunning as the photos promise. They've recently been doing some historic refurbishment/restoration work, and the results speak for themselves. We wanted an art deco jewel box, and we got that and more. The penthouse elevator made for a grand entrance statement, and the furnishings gave the proceedings opulence to spare. While there was some concern with how we'd fit 90 guests into the interior spaces for cocktail hour while the terrace was turned over for the reception, we found it actually wasn't any trouble at all. The upper deck remained available and allowed for natural crowd control. The scene was lively and exciting, to be sure, but never uncomfortable.
We really can't say enough kind things. The staff on the day were incredible, the attention to detail was immaculate, and everything went as perfectly as one can hope. -

Every interaction felt warm, seamless, and genuinely caring. They didn’t just host our wedding — they nurtured it. Their attention to detail, clear communication, and thoughtful guidance made the planning process effortless and allowed us to truly enjoy our big day without stress. Throughout the event, they were attentive yet unobtrusive, anticipating needs we didn’t even know we had. It felt like being taken care of by family who also happened to be seasoned event professionals.

Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how breathtaking the setting was — elegant, vintage, intimate, and unlike anything they’d ever seen.
The rooftop ceremony was equally enchanting, with the skyline creating a gorgeous backdrop that blended old Hollywood romance with modern LA energy. Every moment felt timeless.

Oviatt -A love letter to Los Angeles
The Oviatt staff was fantastic and made our happily ever after event such a special moment for us. They worked with us on our bar menu and gave us a lot of freedom with making the space very intimate and personal. Being under the city lights of Los Angeles made this venue such a romantic tribute to the city that me and my wife fell in love in and grew up in. I'd recommend touring the venue before hand and pick a date that offers a lot of natural light. Thank you to the Oviatt for making an unforgettable night! Also look up Anna Luna with Festie Co. If you're planning to have a small intimate wedding, love the vibe of DTLA and want a venue with character and values inclusivity, The Oviatt is literally the perfect choice. Bonus point for being super affordable.
The Oviatt team made it really straightforward and easy for us from the jump. From the moment we inquired, Gabe got back to us really fast. He informed us immediately when another couple was interested on the date we were looking at and gave us ample time to lock it in. Lindsey and Cami were our main point of contact after signing the contract, they provide you a welcome kit with all the info you'll need (such as vendor insurance and how to acquire it, parking, rental they can provide, layout guidelines etc.) and a checklist along with their due dates for everything they'll need from you. They even have a preferred vendor list in the welcome kit which is going to help you LOADS in wedding planning. Going with one of their preferred caterers is highly recommended. Oh and their bar? 1000/10 delicious drinks. We still think about the espresso martini. seriously.
The value for money is incredible considering everything you'll get and zero hidden fees!
We're absolutely in love with this venue. It made our special day even more magical because of its natural charm and the Oviatt team was so lovely to work with. Not only did we fall in love with this place more, our guests did as well! We miss everything about this art deco hottie of a place. -

The Best Wedding Venue!
The Oviatt is a wonderful venue and it was such a pleasure working with Lindsey and Gabe! We knew during our tour that the Oviatt was the right venue for us. The size (for small-medium sized weddings), location, and character of the venue is really unparalleled. Then layer on top table and linen deal when you work with a preferred catering vendor and the Oviatt is the best deal in town!
Gabe was very helpful during the touring and contracting phase. He communicates very clearly which made the process very smooth. There were no surprise charges at any point. The cost of everything was communicated very clearly upfront. Then, once we signed the contract, we worked with Lindsey, the director of events who supports the planning phase. Lindsey answered all of our questions in a timely and patient manner. She never hesitated to answer our questions, even when the answers to our questions were clearly outlined in the welcome packet! The event planning tools the team uses makes it incredibly easy to stay up on all of the planning details from floorplan to linen selections, to guest count - the tool handles it all with clear deadlines for each task.
Finally, on the day of our wedding the Oviatt team executed the event so smoothly. Everything went off without a hitch! Our guests were so impressed by the venue. Quintessential LA rooftop vibe with art deco architecture. Such a treat.
We would recommend the Oviatt to anybody looking to get married in the downtown area. The Oviatt is reasonably priced, the staff are incredibly professional and reliable, and are just nice people. We are forever grateful to the Oviatt staff for helping us have our perfect wedding! -

The Oviatt fit us like a glove. We really wanted our wedding to be about us, good vibes, good food, good music, and they helped us execute that vision. The Oviatt is a beautiful, well-maintained venue that gave us an incredible starting point. The venue's historic and one-of-a-kind feel did so much of the decor work for us. They also had a great selection of chairs and linens to rent. The luxury tier bar package helped set the tone with an open bar, welcome glasses of champagne, the champagne tower, and the coffee bar. They also had a preferred vendor's list, so we booked California Cookout for our dinner catering and were so pleased with that selection. The staff were incredibly helpful and even handled a couple of mishaps on the day of. We worked with Lindsey and Gabe. They really put us at ease and went with so many of our ideas, so we could include our cultures in our wedding. We can't recommend The Oviatt enough. -

I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. Lindsey, Gabe, and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. The preferred vendor list made planning a breeze. The venue was by far the most beautiful we saw, and it was surprisingly affordable! We loved the indoor/outdoor flow and the old Hollywood charm. We thought we were keeping it simple.. but little did we know, even if you want to just host a dance party for your wedding- it turns into so much planning! Lindsey and Gabe were incredibly open and welcoming since the beginning. They have a very complete to-do list that helps you check things off easily, they were incredibly responsive to all my questions, they had awesome suggestions for catering, flowers and the DJ, and the service during our 7 hour event was just impeccable. Everything went according to plan. The rest of their crew was so friendly and professional, our guests absolutely loved them. And the venue was stunning at night. I can't recommend this enough! 10/10 this is the perfect Venue. It’s right in the heart of downtown LA. The views of the LA skyline from the rooftop are incredible. I love that they kept all the original wood, furniture and artwork of the penthouse. It is such a unique space to have an event because there are so many areas to explore and take in - it’s a very dynamic space, something for everyone.
The staff is incredible, I cannot praise them enough. They are so accommodating and helpful. We worked mostly with Lindsey and Gabe, who were such a delight to work with. I really felt the love and passion they both have for the venue and their work. I can not recommend this venue more; with the help of Lindsey and the staff, they made my dream wedding come true. Lindsey was always responsive and available on the day of. Her attention to detail was great - she noticed the table numbers were different than that on our portal and brought it up, but was adaptable to what we had set!
If you want an incredible event that will impress, go the Oviatt. There are also numerous hotels on the same block which made everything that much easier. -

My husband and I are so glad we found The Oviatt. When we first spoke with Gabe, we knew we were in good hands. He was super friendly, really attentive, and made sure to address all our needs/concerns. The space itself is stunning – it has a timeless, vintage vibe and amazing views of DTLA – it was exactly what we were looking for. Gabe was very communicative and patient throughout the process and helped us make the decision to book the venue without seeing it ourselves.
Once we booked, we had the absolute pleasure of working with Lindsey, who helped bring our vision to life. She made the planning process stress-free and seamless, and everything went so smoothly on the big day. Lindsey answered every question I had and offered alternatives/solutions to anything that came up. She was also very patient when it came to details we hadn't finalized. We held our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at The Oviatt. We had around 90 guests. We went with one of their preferred catering vendors, California Cookout, which our guests loved (the tri-tip was a particular favorite!). The Oviatt truly made our wedding unforgettable, and we are so grateful for the team who made it all come together. -

Gabe and Lindsey made us feel so special from the very beginning. We were absolutely blown away from the first time we saw the venue and almost thought it was too good to be true. They both helped us navigate and organize every detail to make sure the wedding day went smoothly and flawlessly. They were accommodating, responsive, and flexible in every aspect. We were able to have our dream wedding, exactly how we wanted, including the catering, flowers, dj, photographer, etc. There were no limitations when it came to selecting our vendors. I was lucky enough to plan a wedding for my couple at this gorgeous venue on NYE. From start to end, they were incredible to work with. So friendly to chat with in person, quick to respond to emails, and impeccably professional on the big day. Hidden Gem With The Best Staff
Can’t overstate what an incredible experience we had with the Oviatt. Not only was the venue perfect for wedding, but the staff truly made the entire planning and day-of experience so smooth and welcoming. The space is gorgeous and one-of-a-kind - we didn’t have to decorate at all, there were so many little spaces and pockets guests to explore and mingle in, all the original art deco decor and furnishings were so cool. We didn’t have to add anything (but could have brought in outside rentals and vendors if we wanted) - the venue rental includes seating for the ceremony and reception, the rooftop lounge was fully furnished was lounge furniture, the terrace is already decorated with bistro lighting, twinkle lights and ivy walls, and there is lounge seating throughout the indoor space. Also included were cocktail tables, easels for signage, tables for our buffet set up. All of these things at other venues we looked at were either additional costs or we’d have to bring in additional vendors to supply.
What really made the experience though was the Oviatt staff - Lindsey and Gabe are both so friendly, approachable, welcoming and supportive. Other venues we looked at were all business, had a “take it or leave it” vibe and kind of made us feel like we should be grateful for even to be given the chance to have an event there; Lindsey and Gabe were the exact opposite - they weren’t just trying to rent out a space, they were helping us host our wedding and doing everything they could to make sure our plans were realized. They provided us with so much information beyond what was required of them - they had a whole packet with a suggested timeline for planning, a Planning Pod tool that enabled us to track our vendors and plan out our floorplans and seating charts, lists of vendors we needed to consider and decisions we needed to make. Gabe had an actual meeting with us to discuss what we were looking for in a venue and our wedding, and have is all of this information we even booked the space. Lindsey followed up with us periodically in the months leading up to the wedding to remind us of what we needed to be taking care of and making sure we were on track. Both of them were always generous with their time answering our many questions and being flexible in accommodating our requests. We felt so supported and cared for throughout the entire process, and felt more like we had friends in our corner than like we were coordinating with a vendor. Truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this team is and how appreciative we are.
We looked at practically every venue in the downtown/northeast LA area, and this one not only blew away the competition in what they offered, but it was also the most affordable option! It’s really like having the efficiency of an all-inclusive venue without the restrictions. And of course all of our guests loved it - we are still getting comments on how unique and beautiful the space was, and how much everyone enjoyed having so many different spaces to explore and congregate throughout the evening. Best decision we could have made. -

My partner and I’s venue search ended the second we ascended in the historical elevator to the penthouse of the James Oviatt Building. The Oviatt venue is a multifaceted piece of beautiful Art Deco history that lends itself well to whatever event you are trying to throw. In our case, they hosted our wedding. We will forever be grateful for their immense care and kindness leading up to, on, and after the big day. We met the President Gabe first, who had his own wedding at this venue before he managed it. He made us feel right at home and answered every question we could muster. Our one hour showing turned into a two and a half hour conversation where his care and passion for the venue and his clients became very clear. We felt a connection right away. He shared a wealth of great advise and reassurances and gave us an impeccable pool of preferred vendors. We were sold in minutes.
Every event is different, but my partner and I did not feel the space needed any help to become beautiful. The architectural art of the space is breathtaking and unique from the valet area outside of the Cicada Club all the way to the terrace. We saved a fortune on a florist. Who needs one when everything is already so classy?
Speaking of class, the Director of Events Lindsey took point on execution and was our resource during the planning process. I as an individual am not the most communicative. I needed someone with that attention to detail and she delivered. After giving her all the venue required specifications (seating chart, insurances, etc,) two conversations was all it took for her to equip the venue with everything it needed and make it gorgeous. It seemed effortless for her. Not a spec of dust or dirt to be seen and the staff was respectful, efficient, and welcoming. I had a panic attack because I forgot to ask them for valet and she was able to get her people on it without issue the same week as the wedding. (Don’t be like me, but that is a perfect example of how on top of it they are.)
They had EVERYTHING we could have wanted for a downtown metropolitan wedding and then some. If they didn’t have it? They knew exactly where to refer you. One of my personal favorite features was their completely customizable LED lighting strips on the hedges that lined either side of the rooftop. We had them a bright warm light for dinner and then a cycle of rainbow colors for dancing.
They are inclusive and welcoming to any and all who come to visit. We felt valued, respected, and well cared for. It truly was the best day of our lives and we owe it all to The Oviatt. I implore to to reach out to them. I can say with certainty that you won’t be disappointed and whatever it is you are planning will become a memorable experience unlike any other. -

This is the best wedding venue ever, for many many reasons. In short, the management is super attentive and communicative, flexible and accommodating, professional and kind. You'd be amazed at how many wedding venue staff members are cold and rude...but not The Oviatt! The venue itself is STUNNING and we received so many compliments on it...you need very little decor as the venue shines on its own! I can't say enough positive things about our experience here and if we ever need an event venue again, we'd definitely go back! Thank you Gabe and Lindsey and all the staff for making our wedding magical! -

My wedding day was the most fun I’ve ever had, and it all began with choosing the Oviatt as the venue. One of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made! It all started with our first phone call with Gabe. We were just a week or two into wedding planning, and quickly becoming overwhelmed with options and prices. When we expressed this, Gabe helpfully and realistically said “I’m going to give you a list of things we DON’T provide that you will have to budget for.” This was so refreshing after meeting with other venues that had hidden fees and aggressive sales tactics. We felt so comfortable right away, and when we scheduled an in-person tour, we fell in love. Not only were the prices competitive (we had all but ruled out being able to get married in LA proper on our budget), but the space was so unique that we knew it would provide a memorable experience for all of our guests, both local and from out-of-town. Gabe continued to lead with kindness as we reserved our date, throwing in a complimentary champagne welcome after I had expressed excitement over the idea on the tour and offering that we could split our deposit into two payments because he knew my union was on strike at the time.
As we got deeper into the planning process, we worked closely with Lindsey, who much like Gabe was so fun to work with! She helpfully broke down all the little decisions we needed to make, answered all questions promptly, and was so helpful during our final walkthrough. What really worked for us with this venue is that aside from the bar, which you have to do through them (but the prices are very reasonable), you can bring in outside vendors as long as they fit the criteria. We were also able to rent linens and table settings through them and hire servers to bus and pour wine during dinner. There were never any hidden fees or surprises, and on the wedding day, everything went wonderfully! We even heard later that Lindsey gave some of our wedding party a tour of all the venue’s unique features during the reception, something our friends are still talking about. We felt so well taken care of, and the venue is so stunning minimal decor is needed! I am so happy we got married at the Oviatt. It is a gem, as are Gabe and Lindsey and the entire staff, and we are so grateful! -

The Oviatt is one of the most unique and most special venues in Los Angeles. As a wedding photographer, it's absolutely so much fun to photograph. It's vintage, and quirky on the inside, lending itself to so many photo opportunities with a couple on their wedding day. The outdoor space is also beautiful and different than most in LA as it is on a rooftop in DTLA, surrounded by skyscrapers. Aside from the venue itself, the team behind it could not be beat. They are so incredibly professional, friendly, and are truly there to make your day go as smoothly as it could. Cherry on top is that they're amazing to vendors too! I would be honored to work there again and I know my couple had only amazing things to say about it and the team that runs it. -

To say that my husband and I were beyond thrilled with our experience with The Oviatt would be a total understatement. From the very beginning, it was evident that this amazing venue and its outstanding staff was the perfect fit for us as a couple and our vision for our wedding day!
After we had completely exhausted ourselves with trying to find a wedding venue out of town for months in the summer of 2023, and not finding anything that felt like it had the right blend of elegance, fun, and uniqueness that we were hoping for… we decided to just take a look to see what was around in LA - and almost immediately we came across The Oviatt. I have always been obsessed with Art Deco architecture and design, and this place looked like something out of an Old Hollywood daydream!
Immediately upon arrival when we toured the venue, this place just felt DIFFERENT — in the best possible, most inviting way. Gabe gave us a highly informative grand tour, and we were immediately won over by his hospitality, attention to detail, and sense of humor. He told us that, if we were on the fence about The Oviatt, to please make a second visit at night time to see the terrace at night, surrounded by the incredible 360 views of the downtown city lights. He was right — this really sealed the deal!
I can’t say enough about how exceptional Lindsey was as the go-to person on staff to help us with planning our special day. She was effortless to communicate with, extremely responsive, patient, and very receptive to the many ideas we had for our big day! This included karaoke, highly specific signature cocktails, a DIY Polaroid photo lounge, and a late night secret bar (named after our beloved pup) on the upstairs terrace. I thought I might have been acting a little *too* extra with all of the details, and my countless LONG emails to Lindsey… but she responded with such kindness and optimism every time!
Not to mention - some of my family did a majority of the flower arrangements for the day, and Lindsey allowed them to take over the entire bar area to make the arrangements on-site, just hours before guests arrived. This was something that I was majorly stressed about, and it meant the world that Lindsey and the rest of the staff were so accommodating!
Our wedding day ended up being the Old Hollywood-urban-garden-soiree I was dreaming of, and a month and a half later, we still can’t get over how perfect it was. Our friends and family absolutely raved about The Oviatt, and how it was unlike any other wedding venue they’d been to before.
I clearly can’t say enough good things about this extremely special venue! If you’re considering hosting your wedding here, JUST DO IT - you won’t regret it!The Oviatt's reply:

We were first interested in this venue due to the 1920's original interior so we wouldn't have to spend too much on florals/decor.
Gabe and Linsdey were so friendly and professional that we booked the venue without seeing any other ones because we just knew it was the perfect choice.
Gabe and Lindsey were super accommodating, responsive, professional, and chill at the same time.

We're not from the US and found the Oviatt online, we fell in love straight away but I was very nervous about picking a venue without having seen it in person.
Gabe and Lyndsey put our minds totally at ease and were so accommodating and helpful, I cant thank them both enough.
We had the most amazing wedding and they took off so much of the stress. If you're considering The Oviatt as your venue, just go for it! The team are fantastic, the venue is beautiful and I cant recommend them enough. -

Easy, Historic, and Beautiful!
Having worked with this event space before, I already knew I'd love to have my wedding here, considering that for a non-wedding event, they were great communicators, professional and personable, and of course the venue itself being gorgeous. What I wasn't anticipating was the venue to go beyond those expectations for my wedding.
From the moment we set up an appointment, the emails were clear (bulleted and itemized, just the way I like it!). This was important since I had no wedding planner and needed a venue that would communicate well and quickly. It helped that they were so open to our many requests, such as karaoke on the dance floor and setting up puzzles with the bartender. Never did I feel like I was burdening them, and they were so professional with these requests.
After we got the ball rolling with the communication, it was an easy process to set up the wedding and without breaking the bank too! In another space, it would have easily cost so much more.
And on the big day, ALL of our guests raved about history and beauty of the venue! We didn't even need to set up much decor. Though, it did set up a wonderful backdrop for our escape room themed wedding because, since it's a previously lived in penthouse, has many rooms for guests to go in and out. -

A Flexible DIY Wedding
Gabe & Lindsey were amazing to work with. My husband and I stopped by in August and sealed the deal a few weeks later with an easy electronic deposit. Our wedding was held on a Sunday, March 24th. We opted for the cheaper beer & wine package, and Gabe was flexible with our budget offering two additional specialty cocktails (tequila, soda water & pineapple juice + a whiskey old fashioned) We did not opt for the coffee station, thus Espresso Martinis are not an option in the budget package.
A month into planning our wedding planner bailed on us, but as a former event planner, and with Lindsey's amazing response time, we were able to pull this off DIY.
When I say DIY, the venue allowed our guests to help as vendors from florist, to DJs, sound and dessert. We only were required the event insurance and I was able to provide my personal DJ policy (as I spin myself).
A friend made the cupcakes and the staff saved room in the fridge to store them. We brought in our own sound, however the indoor area has a quality sound system to play among the rooms and indoor bar and lounge during cocktail hour and getting ready time, which you can bring your own laptop, ipad etc. they even had adapters if you brought your phone to be the inside playlist DJ.
We were granted access to the venue for 11 hours with no additional charge in our initial quote. No hidden fees incurred and the bar was open for 5 hours of that time.
Right during photos before the ceremony, Lindsey kept watch of the weather and informed us, "I's a 100% change of rain in 10 minutes!" However, this turned into a beautiful moment as all guests stepped up to move the décor indoors, and we decided to hold the ceremony with 80 guests inside. Once it was over, the rain stopped and my husband and I, whom wrote an album based on our vows were able to perform outside right after. Staff had provided us with trash bags to cover our gear in the rain in the meantime.
We did not use a preferred caterer, but they were still able to provide linens, napkins, flatware and glasses, with many colors to choose from. We booked Border Grill who had worked at the venue before and were a great help! Gabe even allowed us to order pizza for delivery for the kids (picky eaters).
The day went by so fast, I loved the bridal suite, hair and makeup found it easy to set up and Lindsey assisted with power cords to run as outlets are sparse, but the building is so classically beautiful and pristine vintage it was absolutely worth it! Pricing was so affordable and I would do it at the Oviatt all over again!The Oviatt's reply:

The venue itself is in excellent condition, clearly maintained with great care for historic preservation, and spotlessly clean. The photos on the venue website very accurately represent the venue. The management of the Oviatt-- Lindsey & Gabe-- are industry experts in Wedding and special event planning. Their staff on our wedding day showed excellence in hospitality, our guests were wowed by the seamless transitions of our wedding timeline and the perfect service. The staff was friendly, warm, courteous-- worked effortlessly as a team-- and each individual showed great initiative, sense of urgency, and ability to self-manage.

A Magical Wedding!
The Oviatt is an amazing place to have a wedding. We fell in love with this place as soon as we walked in through the door. We knew we could not get married at any other venue. To say that our wedding was magical is an understatement. This is a unique space full of history and so much character. Our guests could not stop raving about the location. Gabe and Lindsey were amazing. They are great communicators and so kind. They made sure that the wedding ran smoothly. With a VERY short amount of time to plan and execute this wedding, it was imperative that we worked with people who were responsive, understanding and helpful. We found this in the Oviatt. It's a fun, hip, LA vibe venue with an outstanding event manager who helped make it all happen. Absolutely Fantastic Experience from beginning to end
5 minutes after we walked into the Oviatt and met with Gabe, we knew this was the perfect venue for our wedding! It's an amazing 1920s art deco penthouse where every room has something unique and amazing to check out. There are endless places to take photos in every corner.
Gabe and Lindsey were so easy to talk to and work through every detail of our partially DIY wedding. No question was too crazy or outlandish for them. Communication was quick and easy any time we had a questions all the way up to the wedding day. They charge a fair price and don't try and nickel and dime you with a million upcharges like every other venue.
Also, it's one block away from The Biltmore, so it's very convenient for out of town guests to stay there and then walk over for the event.
Overall everyone we interacted with were just nice, chill people who want to do all they can to make your dream wedding happen. There's a personal connection with them that's rare to find in the wedding industry. I highly recommend The Oviatt for any kind of event! -

On August 18th, my husband and I had our Wedding at The Oviatt Penthouse. Gabe and the entire team were beyond our wildest expectations. We had toured a previous venue; and lost said venue 3 months before the Big Day. Naturally, this was a very stressful event -- but upon calling Gabe, and explaining to him our predicament; we were able to come to The Oviatt on the same-day. We were given a tour of the (jaw-droopingly beautiful) space — complete with skyline views, vintage charm, and old LA atmosphere. As our previous Venue was also including a Day-Of Coordinator; we were very lost on how to proceed with a successful event. Gabe walked us through each and every detail in question. He also was able to give us a number for the event, to ensure it would fit into our budget. We knew we had found our location. In the months leading up to our Wedding Day, Gabe (and again, the entire team) were responsive, professional, and knowledgable on every aspect of what to expect — and when to expect it. They were very much our lifelines; setting us up with nearly every vendor we needed (Including Catering). One of the nicest features of The Oviatt was that their Open Bar policy is on a sliding scale; and charged as part of the Invoice of the location; no 3rd party alcohol vendors needed. When the Big Day finally arrived, the entire team was responsive and engaged with ensuring our Wedding Day was a memorable success. We truly cannot thank the entire Event Staff enough for making our dreams come true. As a Gay Couple, we were naturally cautious about certain aspects of booking vendors; we didn’t want any stain of negativity to touch this date. This entire experience gave me (personally) a stronger faith in humanity. The Venue was immaculate. The Staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy for us. It’s not every day that your Dreams come true; thanks to Gabe and his team, when I look down at my left hand and see my ring, I’m able to remember the Perfect Day I shared with my friends, family, and the man I love. Where to begin? To start, we only had to visit one venue to know that this was the place for us. From the moment we started working with Gabe to book at the Oviatt, we felt so comfortable, respected, valued, and supported, and these feelings were consistent through our entire planning journey (1.5 years!!). We booked in the middle of COVID, and while we had friends who've had to book and rebook because of the challenges, Gabe instilled confidence in us that all would be okay and we could rebook-no problem. Thankfully it didn't come to that, but based on our experiences, we know that Gabe would be true to his word. During the year and a half planning time, Gabe was consistently responsive in a timely manner, open to meeting whenever we needed, and was willing to do some digging to find out what options we had in order to get us to the best situation possible, always keeping in mind our budget.
Gabe has a true passion and love for what he does; it shows through and through in the way he conducts his business. We LOVE Gabe!
Enough gushing about Gabe--let's talk about the venue!
If you like old-Hollywood vibes, coupled with historic downtown LA, amazing views, and fun little nooks and crannies to discover, this is the place for you! It's an intimate, colorful, well-preserved space that needs very little of your own decorating; it's beautiful! All of our guests raved about how interesting and unique the space is, and how cool it was to explore this curious time capsule. Book an appointment to visit it, but beware! The Oviatt is a beautiful venue and working with them was a dream! My wife and I had booked another venue that went out of business four months before our wedding date, and when we were scrambling to find a replacement, the Oviatt came to our rescue. The venue manager Gabe called us only a couple hours after we submitted our inquiry. He totally understood our situation, got us in for a tour the next day, and bent over backwards to help make our venue change as smooth and painless as possible. Leading up to the big day, Gabe and his team were friendly, helpful, easy to work with, and super on top of every little detail. They worked well with all of our vendors, and the bartenders and event staff helped us put on a flawless event. The space itself is one-of-a-kind and will make your wedding unforgettable! -

The best venue and best staff!
10/10 I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. The vibe and venue is amazing, the catering was absolutely delicious, but above all else, Gabe and his staff are so easy to work with, so flexible, and work miracles. We had the nightmare situation happen, a huge storm rolled in day-of, and during the wedding was complete downpour. Gabe and his team completely transformed the place, and worked endlessly to make sure the night was amazing. And you know what, it honestly was even better, I wouldn't have wanted it any different. We felt completely taken care of, and what they did to the place elevated it even more from what it was before, and made the rain feel magical. I knew I didn't want a "generic" wedding in a hotel, strip mall venue, or dance hall. I wanted something that would not only reflect our personalities as a couple, but something that would leave our guests speechless and conversing for months afterwards.
When I found The Oviatt on Wedding Wire, I reached out to Gabe from the venue immediately. We set up a time to come tour the facility and even though this was the first out of 3 venues we looked at in person, I knew it was the one. The iconic Los Angeles history of the building, the gilded details, the touches of romance within the architecture, everything felt like a fairytale come to life. I KNEW this is where I had to say my "I Dos".
Once we decided on our date, working with gabe, his team, caterer, and online portal were all so convenient. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking to host ANY special event. From the gold and wood elevator taking you to the 13th floor, The starry hallway, the romantic bridal suite, and every detail in between. This venue is the venue of dreams. -

Amazing Venue and Staff

Step into the 1920's with this gem
First, if you are a fan of the 1920's, art deco era, this is the place for you. We decided to use the Oviatt as our wedding venue as it was all-encompassing (we could have our ceremony and reception there).
Gabe, the venue manager, was kind, responsive, and accommodating, which is especially needed during the planning period of any event.
There are small nuances within the facility that you can use to make your event special (specialty drinks, projector screen, etc.) and guests will look in awe at the cityscape around them. From the skyscrapers to the vine wall, there are plenty of photo opportunities for everyone to enjoy.
Overall, we made a wonderful decision in choosing the Oviatt. -

This was a wonderful place to get married! Beautiful art-deco penthouse venue with a two-tiered rooftop. We did both our ceremony and reception here and had a lovely time.
Gabe was incredible to work with. He made sure that we were taken care of every step of the way. He was so collaborative and flexible and really did a lot to take things off our plate and make our big day a stress-free experience. He also set us up with an amazing caterer (shout out to Good Gracious!) that worked seamlessly with the venue to coordinate everything.
If you're looking to get married or just for a place to host an event, I can't recommend the Ovaitt enough! -

Overall, we had a great experience hosting our wedding at the Oviatt. Throughout the entire planning process, Lindsey and Gabe were incredibly helpful and communicative, always ensuring that every detail was taken care of with ease. Their easygoing nature made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. We are also grateful for the help from all of their staff members. One of the highlights of our wedding was undoubtedly the exceptional food provided by Good Gracious, the preferred catering vendor of the venue. Not only did they impress us with their culinary skills, but they also went above and beyond to accommodate our younger guests with delicious kid-friendly meal options.
