Facilities and Capacity

Hillholm Estate was built for Amos G. Winter in 1895 as a romantic gesture to his wife-to-be, Julia, to woo her into Maine's mountains from Manhattan society. Generations later, the Winters passed the estate to the first of a series of stewards, a physican who used the property as a rural post-war hospital, after which it became an elegant country inn. Hillholm stood as a beacon in the community; some of the oldest members of Kingfield's community remember learning to play tennis on the estate's green clay courts as children, to swim in its inground pool, and to ski down its natural amphitheater. The estate's surrounding acreage features dense woodlands, sprawling green gardens and apple trees, a wood sauna and cedar barrel jacuzzi, and frontage on the Carrabassett River, just a stone's throw from the Western Mountains' best swimming hole. Hillholm Estate exudes a nostalgic aesthetic found only in these few remaining grand old houses of New England.

In 2022, partners JennyBess Chaim and Matthew O'Donnell became Hillholm's newest stewards, launching a massive historic restoration of the property. Here, you can host a sweetly intimate or lavishly grand ceremony: our space is versatile. Inside, host your reception in our formal dining rooms and fireside lounge. Outdoors, waltz beneath the stars and among Maine's High Peaks under a canopy tent our on gracious lawns. Enchanting decor and a sophisticated ambiance are hallmarks of this stately establishment. Due to Hillholm Estate's remote locale, you and your guests are afforded absolute privacy and serenity during your stay. The various indoor and outdoor areas can host celebrations with up to 200 guests. Their largest option is among the vibrant gardens and manicured fields, which have plenty of space for an event tent. For smaller indoor gatherings, the Grand Salon features ornate details and an elegant, vintage aesthetic for up to 60 attendees to enjoy. Our space is available for both weekday and weekend events. You are welcome to bring in your own caterer from our preferred list of providers as well.

We offer nineteen en-suite guest rooms for your overnight guests (fully renovated in 2022). Our on-site Healing Arts practitioners offer massage, acupuncture, and a variety of services for your guests' rejuvenation. Our Maine pine-lined yoga shala welcomes your guests each morning for meditation, yoga, and rest. Thanks to our talented culinary staff, we offer extensive farm-to-table menus for your wedding events, whether a traditional New England lobster bake for your rehearsal dinner or an exquisite chef's tasting menu for your wedding reception. Our bar staff provides an interesting array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including cocktails, mocktails, craft Maine beers and spirits, and thoughtfully curated wines.
