When trying to find a place to book our wedding, we were quickly becoming demotivated due to venues either not responding or were way outside of our price range. Elaine was an absolute joy to work with, and was extremely helpful in offering suggestions when we were not sure where to proceed with certain items. All in all, a positive experience!

The governor hill mansion was an amazing place to have a wedding. The historical building is beautiful and Elaine and Taylor helped plan and coordinate to make sure everything ran smoothly. You cannot beat the price either!

Our Wedding was absolutely amazing thanks to Eileen & her staff!! The mansion is gorgeous & very well kept so we barely had to decorate besides centerpieces, etc. They take care of everything from setting up, cooking, coordinating, cleaning up...it’s really perfect because the bridal party & families can enjoy themselves!

The mansion is a beautiful location. If you don't have lots of extra money to decorate, the Columbus Hall requires very little and is still beautiful. In fact, less is more, in my opinion.
Elaine and the staff were incredibly flexible and accommodating. They were professional and unobtrusive also. Things went about seamlessly. My family and guests enjoyed the beauty that that mansion provides both inside and out.
The venue itself is affordable. They worked with us regarding the food menu, also reasonably priced. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend the salmon with creamy dill sauce!

Amazing. Elaine and her team were perfect. They were flexible and attentive. Forgiving when we weren't on schedule and truly made the day about me while providing guidance. Perfect wedding, perfect and beautiful venue.

I can not get over how stunning this place is. The furniture,paintings,staircase, bookshelves are beautiful. I had my wedding there and had the best time of my life. I have some amazing photos and incredible memories.

One of the biggest reasons we chose this venue is because of the event coordinator Elaine. She is their best asset. She helped us plan every detail. She offered suggestions and advice as we needed if. She was always available and prompt with responses. She stayed from the time the girls arrived to get ready until late at night until everyone had their last drink. She made sure our night went perfect. We knew once we met Elaine we wouldn't have to worry about a thing. She is wonderful.

The rest of the staff the worked at the event were excellent. They were fun, engaging, polite and friendly. They led the electric slide during some dancing. They also worked incredibly hard while they were chatting with us and all of our guests. They were always asking can I get you anything. They all went above and beyond during the entire night.

The food was great. We had lunch while getting ready. It had sandwhiches cheese fruit chips and drinks. This was just the fuel we needed before a busy day ahead. Lori even came in to greet us and ask how everything was going and made sure we had everything we needed. During our cocktail hour we chose some apps that were yummy and perfect for while people were mingling. The meatballs and spring rolls were excellent. The cheese and olive tray with fruit and cheese were great The meal we chose was buffet style with steak tips, teriyaki chicken, carrots, mashed potato and dinner rolls. The salad was served at each table. The food was great lots of flavor and served hot.

This is a fabulous location with so much to offer. Everyone there is wonderful. Thank you all for a gorgeous day.

Amazing! The mansion is s beautiful and the staff is so helpful. I recommend GHM to anyone looking to get married in central Maine, particularly those who appreciate the beauty in historical buildings. Such a wonderful experience and one I will cherish forever!

Both our ceremony and reception were held at the Governor Hill Mansion. The Mansion itself is absolutely gorgeous, and looks amazing even with minimal decorations. Elaine was responsive and accommodating for all of our requests, and did an amazing job pulling our vision together. The rental fees and catering were very, very reasonable compared to other venues we looked at, and gave us the most bang for our buck. The catering, which is done by The Liberal Cup in Hallowell, was delicious. Our guests were raving about the food, and the portion sizes were large and filling. Drinks were also delicious, and Elaine was even able to get a specific type of wine that we asked for. Everything went perfectly on our wedding day thanks to Elaine and Jamie, and we highly recommend the Governor Hill Mansion to anyone looking for an affordable, elegant venue in central Maine.

We had the best experience with the Governor Hill Mansion! Elaine is great to work with - we had a somewhat unique situation (planned the wedding from Florida) that required some flexibility, and Elaine was more than happy to help. This is not the sort of place that tries to squeeze every last penny out of you; some of the other places we looked at, it kind of felt like we were getting the used-car-salesman pitch, and that was definitely not the case here. We had about 100 guests, and there was plenty of room for everyone in the Columbus Hall without feeling too cramped or too empty. Great location for pictures, plenty of parking - it has all the practical things you could possibly need and the elegance you want, without blowing a budget. Really, really can't say enough good things about this place!!! Also, get the meatball appetizers, they were awesome!

The venue itself is beautiful and Elaine was a pleasure to work with.
The caterers (in house so you are required to use them!) Were Unprofessional, rude, and lack
proper communication skills to be running the business they do. We basically got the impression that they didn't care what we wanted because we were forced to use them regardless.
I'm pretty outspoken so I voiced my concerns several times and on our wedding night when we finally met the chef (Jerry) he was dismissive and RUDE!!
I recommend the venue if you don't have to deal with the caterers from the Liberal Cup (which if you're having a wedding, food is necessary)
Had I known this while booking the venue I would have NEVER chose to have my wedding there. Don't expect a tasting either. They do not offer them!!! So you're expected to pay THOUSANDS of dollars on food you can't taste.
Working with these caterers were one of our biggest stressors during our planning phase.
We were very disappointed with their lack of professionalism, business practices and over all demeanor
Towards us (especially after I spoke up.)
