The House of the Seven Gables

The House of the Seven Gables was all we could have asked for in a wedding venue and more! We began our search for the perfect venue in 2019, and immediately jumped to put down a deposit when we saw the site. Though the pandemic threw a wrench in our plans, Deb was extremely helpful, and we were able to reschedule (twice!), until finally in 2022 we held our reception. Deb and her team were so helpful all night – we did not have our own wedding coordinator, but Deb did everything we could have wanted, from setting up tables, to coordinating vendors, to helping us pack up. All this, plus you get the satisfaction of supporting a local business and historical site. In the end the weather was gorgeous and we had a scenic view out in the ocean, surrounded by beautiful historic architecture.

We were able to snag the very last date in September only a few months before our wedding. The Gables does not host weddings during the madness of October in Salem, so we felt extra lucky to get this date. Booking was simple, and Deb easy to work with. She liaised with vendors as they arrived, kept the parking enforcement at bay during load in, and stayed throughout the night to ensure a smooth event at the Gables. We were able to use the Hooper-Hathaway House (originally built in the 1600s!) as a bridal ready room and bathroom, which was amazing. The site is exquisite for any event, and we would suggest, if booking a tent, that you get the clear one to take in the beautiful views of the water. Our guests raved about the venue, and we agree that it could not have been more perfect.

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of my destination wedding. Our respective families did not feel comfortable with traveling but still insisted on a wedding prior to any makeup plans we made in relation to travel date. We met with the House of Seven Gables representative, Deb Costa, who was very understanding of the situation and helped us with a new plan. In seven weeks we planned and held a COVID friendly family only "Micromony". Deb was very responsive to the many needs and question I had during such a short time frame. The Venue is beautiful and extremely well kept. We could not have been happier with this second plan and our families loved the venue as well. I am very grateful to have found such a nice venue last minute and would highly recommend to those looking for future events.

We worked with the Gables as the site our summer wedding. The staff was incredibly helpful from the start, with their knowledge of Salem and vendors in the area they played a big role in helping us plan our whole event. We decided to have our ceremony and cocktail hour at the site, and our reception at the Hawthorne nearby. They were very flexible with all of the options, and we really felt like they were partners in helping us plan the best event possible.

Ultimately, COVID-19 ended up throwing a wrench in all of our plans, and the Gables as more supportive than we could possibly have imagined. They were entirely focused on us, with all of the challenges everyone was facing. It meant a tremendous amount to us to have their support through the whole experience. We wholeheartedly recommend the House of Seven Gables. No matter what obstacles life throws at you (and with any wedding there are plenty), they are in your corner from start to finish.

We chose to hold our wedding ceremony at the House of Seven Gables this past November – and it was one of the best decisions we have ever made! My husband and I live in Salem, and we really wanted to host our nontraditional wedding ceremony outdoors in the Fall (our favorite season) in a gorgeous natural setting…so the House of Seven Gables was the perfect location! The large section of the lawn in back of the House held our 130 guests absolutely perfectly, and between the waterfront view and the view of the house, we were completely surrounded by natural beauty and historical architecture. We were lucky enough to have a perfectly clear (although incredibly cold and windy!) Fall day for our outdoor ceremony – and as we chose to have our ceremony begin right around sunset, the view over the water ended up being simply breathtaking! Included in our rental agreement was the opportunity to shoot photos in various rooms in the House itself, in addition to all over the grounds – which was SUCH a wonderful and unique experience! All of the various spaces on the property (both inside and outside) are extraordinary, and made our photos look that much more magical.

Deb Costa, who we worked with through the entire process of planning and executing our ceremony, was so incredibly kind, patient, and helpful all along the way! She provided great suggestions and ideas, and took the time to meet with us three times in person in the preceding months to do several walk-throughs of the space. She was also with us every step of the way on the day of the ceremony, and we 100% couldn’t have done it without her!

Having our wedding ceremony at the House of Seven Gables was simply a splendid experience, and the venue and staff deserve five stars in every category.

We feel incredibly lucky to have been able to get married at this location. There really aren't words to describe how grateful we are to Deb and the House of the Seven Gables for letting us use such beautiful grounds to get married and celebrate with our friends and family. The location cannot be beat - where else can you get historical buildings, lush grass and beautiful flowers right on the ocean?? Thank you so much for such a perfect day!

The House of the Seven Gables was our dream venue for our ceremony and Deb made sure that our dream came true. The location is of course gorgeous being right on the water, next to beautiful historic homes, and an amazing garden. Deb is the coordinator and she works to make sure everything comes together for your day, from arranging chairs to queuing the musicians. She also helped to orchestrate our rehearsal and coordinated with all vendors as needed. I highly recommend getting married here!

Deb Costa is wonderful and accommodating! The venue is full of New England charm, and the seaside lawn location is breathtaking. They can also connect you with the best local wedding vendors. You can't go wrong with this venue.

We were married at the House of the Seven Gables Hooper Hathaway House on 11/12/2016. It was wonderful!! Debbie and her staff were phenomenal to work with, we had a small wedding (less than 30 people) and used the space in a unique way. The entire time Debbie was open to our ideas and what we wanted, our family and friends were excited about the space and it was just a really fun evening.

I would recommend this historical place for anyone looking for a unique but beautiful place to get married! Thank you for everything.

This venue is a hidden gem in the middle of Salem, MA. The back lawn area where we hosted our son and daughter-in-laws wedding has a beautiful view of Salem Harbor that you would never know exists. It was a pleasant surprise to see how much room was there for a tent--big enough to accommodate a band, caterer, etc. Debbie Costa, who is the event manager, was the most helpful, professional and easiest person to get along with. Her suggestions were all on point. I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for an outside wedding venue.
