My husband and I got married in August 2017. We began looking for a DJ a year prior. Our photographers (Kappen Photography – check them out!) referred us to The Flashdance DJs, specifically DJ Matthew Rubino, telling us that of all the weddings they’ve shot, Matthew was by far the best they’ve heard. When you’re planning your wedding, you definitely have to discuss ahead of time what takes priority, which for us was photography and the DJ.

We visited their website, watched all their videos, and were immediately in awe. It was obvious they were passionate about creating amazing mixes and experiences. The way their music transitions from one song to the next is seamless, creative, and, for lack of a better word, INSANE. They have an incredible talented bunch. It was also nice that their website offers so much information, such as an FAQ, playlists, a gallery of photos/videos, and a brief biography of the DJs. It did not take us long to decide that Matthew had to be part of our special day.

We emailed them and communicated mostly with Abby, the production manager. She helped answer all our preliminary questions and then processed our booking. We then connected with the DJ, Matthew, who got to know us and about our wedding a little more. He explained how he wanted us to create a short list of about 20 songs that meant the most to us. We knew there would be essential songs, such as our first dance and entrance, but for Matthew to have the ear, patience, and skill to “feel” the couple and crowd is something truly meaningful and thoughtful. We got so many compliments from our guests. Not to mention, he doubled as an MC and wasn’t corny nor over-the-top. Instead, he was exactly what he described to us over the phone – an enthusiastic minimalist. Everything sounded amazing, we partied hard, and we are so thankful we chose The Flashdance!

Michael Antonia was a complete professional on all accounts. His music was a vital aspect of the joy and exhuberant energy of our son's wedding. And his attention to either the mood of our guests or the flow of the evening was very sensitive. His selections were tastefully chosen and definitely motivated our guests to get up and dance. When the dancing outside was cut because of the Carmel noise ordinance (which we were aware of) Michael was so disappointed that he couldn't continue to provide his music in the manner he had planned. Nevertheless he adapted to the situation and brought the music inside for the last half hour that the restaurant allowed us to stay. Michael was a complete pleasure to work with and we highly recommend him for your wedding or party.

DJ Gary Ames is the best wedding DJ I've ever heard. The dance floor was packed the entire time and we couldn't stop dancing. Super positive energy and really awesome attitude. We fell in love with his mixes way before the wedding and he did not disappoint. THE BEST.

DJ Smiles Davis from The Flashdance was THE HIGHLIGHT of our wedding! She had everyone - young and old - dancing like crazy for the entire reception. We had to move the cake in fear that an enthusiastic dancer would knock it over!

I should also note that DJ Smiles has an amazing ability to read the crowd. We didn't give her a suggested playlist and yet she intuitively knew what our guests would love to hear. She's an incredible talent and I would highly recommend her to any bride that wants to see the dance floor full of happy guests having a great time!

I cannot recommend Michael from The Flash Dance enough. If you asked me, or my groom (I guess he’s my husband now!) or my family, they would all tell you that hiring Michael was one of the best decisions that we made during wedding planning. Music is really important to us as a couple, and we’re big dancers, so we wanted our wedding to be an epic dance party, and Michael gave us just that at our June 2014 wedding at the ACE Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, California.

Our wedding was absolutely fantastic. He lived up to all of our expectations. The first hour of dancing was killer. Some of my favorite memories from the night were during this part. Dancing with my daddy to oldies and the always iconic “Shout.” Michael did his awesome throwback classics…all of the good oldies, which is my favorite. The entire crowd, even Grandma, was up dancing. Then he transitioned into more contemporary stuff, which was great for our friends. At some point during the evening, one of our friends (who is difficult to impress) came up to us to tell us that he had thought that everything was recorded, and that he couldn’t believe that Michael was doing all of the scratching and mixing himself. The last 45 minutes of dancing was epic. Michael got everyone back on the dance floor and pumped, asking all of us to get super close to the DJ booth like a house party. This helped to make the bigger venue space at the ACE feel intimate and cool since we were a smaller group. He ended the night with one of our favorite mixes of his with Jay-Z and Al Green, which was literally perfect. And the last song was “Bump and Grind.” Yes, that happened. And it was fantastic.

So, again, I highly recommend Michael. If you want a DJ that will come up with creative mixes and always keep you on your toes the whole night of your wedding, Michael is the guy for you. He will not disappoint.

Michael is god. Seriously, I have never danced harder in my life. Best money we spent on the wedding. Everyone is still talking about x or y transition and just how masterful Michael was at anticipating our wants and needs on the dancefloor. Thank you for making our night unforgettable!

I can't say enough about this guy. I would give him 20 stars if I could. After attending several weddings I knew 3 things had to be on point. Venue, food and most importantly DJ. Nothing spoils a reception like a bad DJ.

Michael was pricier than the rest and I was a little nervous with the splurge going in, but man did he deliver. I asked for a can't sit down dance party and that is what it was - even during dinner. People were itching to get out of their chairs and it was just great music. period.

He was top notch and a highlight of the evening. Hire him, now.

My review is also long overdue! We were married May 2012 in Tulum, Mexico. Our wedding had a ton of glitches and complications was incredibly stressful in the months leading up to it, but I must say that The Flashdance was in no way a contributor to those stressors! Both Smiles Davis (our DJ) and Michael Antonia (proprietor and head DJ-not sure what else to call him!) were so so wonderful to work with. Smiles was AMAZING and I had every single guest at our wedding come up to me and say " This is the best wedding DJ ever" So true! Not only was she super rad and created the perfect soundtrack to our day, but she's incredibly lovely and easy going and so great to work with. She even got my stuffy aunts out on the dance floor! In fact, I'm pretty sure she got everyone on the dance floor. Both she and Michael are the perfect mix of professional and a real human being who understands that stuff happens (like when you have to change venues at the last minute) and works with you to make sure everything works out. In the midst of all the chaos, I forgot to send Smiles MP3s of all of our special songs (the songs we chose to first dance to etc). I thought that I could just download them from Mexico since I did'n't have my laptop with me, wrong! Neither Amazon nor iTunes would work from Mexico- something about fraud, I don't know- and I was totally freaking out the night before the wedding. Michael saved the day by downloading from the US and zipping up everything and getting the songs to us just in time! I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with both of them to make our wedding day even more incredible. Smiles even sent me a playlist of the entire day after we got back from our honeymoon. Have I convinced you yet? They are the best. Hands down. I hope that I can find a reason to throw a big party someday and hire them again!

If you want simply the best DJ in all the land to be at your wedding, then Michael Antonia is your man. He is INCREDIBLE. He keeps the pace of the party going all night long and never plays anything cheesy or lame. Think of the best dance party you have ever been to, and then multiply that by infinity and you will have The Human Jukebox. Seriously, worth every penny...and he is so sweet and cute!

Best wedding DJ ever, hands down, no contest. I'm somewhat of a recovering music snob, and I'd never before been to a wedding where I actually LIKED the music. All night I kept being surprised by the amazing music he was playing (how did he know EXACTLY what songs I would like?).
