The Diamond Source is one of the few long-standing San Diego jewelers that has stood the test of time - thanks, in large part, to the expertise and grace of its proprietors, Marco and Fanny. When I was growing up in San Diego, they managed to stay on my radar from a young age because of a dreamy, elegant commercial that aired in the early morning hours of KUSI's local newscasts (a study in how effective, subtle marketing can pay dividends for years to come). Although those commercials, which showcased stunning settings and stones of impressive size, made me feel that I probably could never afford any of their work, I suggested that my now-fiance and I check them out after we left underwhelmed from Tiffany and a few independents while shopping for engagement rings.

While other retailers had one or two settings that were "pretty good," The Diamond Source's showroom was instead a case study in "I can't pick just one - they're all amazing." Marco's work is truly classic, timeless, and one-of-a-kind - the sort of heirloom quality work that your grandchildren will covet in forty years' time. More impressive, however, is the quality of Marco's gems - all of which he cuts himself, and the love he puts into each one blazes forth when you hold one in your hand. All of his diamonds are GIA certified, and the 'fire' of his cut is truly a sight to behold; nowhere else had we seen diamonds 'sparkle' in shadows like these gems do. Marco himself took care of us from first-contact to purchase details, and the love for his work and product is evident in the enthusiasm and joy with which he infuses the sales experience.

In the end, Marco and Fanny helped my fiance and I settle on a solitaire 1.92 carat diamond (way bigger than we originally anticipated buying) of very, very great quality for a price that was more than fair and directly competitive with online retailers - but with a cut and design that is truly one-of-a-kind. We have since ordered our wedding bands from them as well, which are similarly classic and of tremendous quality and craftsmanship. Throughout the process, both Fanny and Marco lavished attention, education, and industry insight that we did not encounter anywhere else. In addition, they displayed a remarkable commitment to quality customer service and care. They are warm, personable, welcoming, and honest proprietors who only want to see their customers satisfied, happy and (of course) returning for more as the years go by. Absolutely love this place. My husband designed my ring, and it is the most beautiful, sparkly ring. When we went in to have the band made as well, it was such an easy process. They are very flexible too, with pricing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone searching for a great jeweler!

The Diamond Source has locations in La Jolla and Old Town and are wonderful jewelers. They created a custom band for my engagment ring (which was also purchased there). Their diamonds are of the upmost quality and they are more than accomodating and helpful! I wouldn't want to get my jewelry anywhere else!
