The Birchwood is a gorgeous wedding venue in St. Petersburg, Florida that sets the stage for the celebration of a lifetime! Better yet, The Grand Ballroom & Terrace, located in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, is an indoor and outdoor celebration space with breathtaking views of the waterfront skyline. It is the perfect venue for your wedding ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner, or post-wedding brunch!
Facilities and Capacity
Grand Ballroom: "Say 'I Do' with a View!" Ceremonies are held within the east wing of our Grand Ballroom while overlooking the downtown waterfront views. With this space, you'll receive gold banquet chairs, 8' Birchwood decorative pillars, a ceremony pipe and drape, and a champagne toast for you and your partner-to-be. Additional services include:
- Up to 120 guests for a traditional ceremony, combined with a reception.
- For couples with guest counts higher than 120, a list of local off-site ceremony recommendations will be provided.
- 'Reception Style' ceremonies available for larger guest-counts.
In addition, you can host your cocktail hour in the Grand Ballroom, utilizing our welcome foyer, main ballroom, and two private outdoor terraces. We offer an upgraded semi-private rooftop cocktail hour, where wedding guests can enjoy the cabanas, outdoor living room area, waterfront glass look-out area, and a private satellite bar.
The Grand Ballroom features a vintage glam and a simple elegance that is the perfect palate for any wedding day celebration. Located just one level below our iconic rooftop, the Grand Ballroom can accommodate weddings, rehearsal dinners, post-wedding brunches, and other celebrations accommodating 200 guests. This space includes exclusive use of our welcome foyer, custom built-in bar, private restroom suites, and two outdoor balconies with panoramic views of the downtown St. Petersburg Beach Drive area. For seated dinners, you can invite up to 200 people. Alternatively, reception-style gatherings accommodate 250+ guests.

• Exclusive use of the 4th floor's Grand Ballroom, Grand Foyer, private restroom suites, and two outdoor balconies
• Five rental hours for your wedding event
• Vendor access and setup four hours before event start time
• Full catering kitchen with dedicated banquet chef and banquet staff
• Balcony patio lounge furniture
• Custom built-in bar
• 72" Round Tables, 60" Round Tables, 6' Banquet Tables, and 8' Banquet Tables for guest seating, DJs, gifts, favors, etc.
• 48" Round Cake Table
• White, black, or ivory floor-length linen for banquet Tables
• Black or white linen napkins
• All plate ware, glassware, flatware, and service ware
• Private welcome signage
• Complimentary wedding tasting for up to six guests before your wedding date
• Complimentary service staff and bartending for the first 75 guests

Best Venue and Team
Best venue ever!!
One thing we especially appreciated was their help hitting our minimum. When we thought we might come in under, they worked with us to create a sommelier experience—on we highly recommend!! It was affordable and added such an elevated touch to the event, with a professional sommelier guiding guests through a variety of wines. It ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the night.
We held both our ceremony and reception at The Birchwood, which made everything seamless. Our guests loved being able to stay on-site at the hotel, turning the wedding into a full weekend experience. It really made the celebration feel more intimate and special.
Marlice was fantastic to work with, and Claire was incredibly helpful when it came to navigating our needs. Both of them went above and beyond, and we truly can’t say enough good things about their support and professionalism. We feel like they are family now!
The food was outstanding, and the bar service was just as impressive. The team also worked with us to create signature cocktails, which added a fun and personal touch. During our planning process, they even updated the space with new chairs and carpeting, both of which we absolutely loved.
It’s a beautiful, well-run venue with an amazing team behind it. We’re so grateful for the experience and can’t wait to come back again someday. We highly recommend it to anyone considering a wedding venue!
December Wedding in a Timeless Setting
Incredible food, great views & a fabulous party
It is also a gorgeous space that can accommodate many different decor styles but that doesn't need a lot of "extra" decor to look beautiful, which was helpful to me as someone who would be intimidated by a full DIY space but appreciated the flexibility to pick a theme that suited us. It definitely photographs well too!
Finally and most importantly, the staff are so helpful and professional. We worked with Marlice and Claire for most of our planning process and they were both so organized, responsive and kind. For example, on our final walkthrough, Marlice stayed for extra time to watch us practice our first dance on the dance floor -- she did not need to do that and we really appreciated it. And she was always available to answer any question big or small.
