We absolutely loved having our wedding & reception at Stonehurst - AND YOU CAN BRING IN ALL YOUR OWN VENDORS!!! The first person you'll meet there is Marcia who is a good ol' South Boston lady who's been doing this for 25+ years. She is very opinionated and will definitely make her opinion known. However it's all because she has a big heart under her somewhat brusque exterior and she wants nothing more than for you to have an amazing day. So know that you'll be dealing with Marcia but she'll make everything magical. She gave us a few great recommendations for caterers who'd worked there before (We went with Swartz's in Somerville) as well as a gent who could decorate the house with palm trees and uplighting (Which is gorgeous BTW). She definitely prefers to work over the phone more than e-mail, but don't let that put you off. You will have to go to a City of Waltham Liquor Commission meeting to get an alcohol permit for the place, but all in between the facilities cost and the permit you're only looking at $3.5k which is a great value for such a wonderful venue around Boston. Plus you can bring in all of your own vendors, which is an amazing plus and saved us quite a bit of money.

Definitely consider Stonehurst for your wedding and/or reception! It will make your dreams come true!

Stonehurst was an amazing venue and we were totally lucky with the weather. Outside is magnificent and an amazing setting. The area for the cocktail hour is also absolutely gorgeous! Marcia was helpful and made sure everything ran smoothly and perfectly and, most importantly to me, on time! Everything was great. It's a bring in your own kind of venue, which I appreciated because I wanted to pick out my own caterer, that was really important to us. If you don't mind doing that extra leg, this venue is great. They also throw in tables and chairs so that saves some on the renting!

Don't miss out on this hidden venue close to many hotels on Rt. 128 and easy access to Logan airport via the Pike. We didn't want to be a hotel ballroom or a church for our wedding so Stonehurst was the perfect venue. What it lacks in modern conveniences, it makes up for with historic charm and some of the most beautiful gardens in the area. With influences from Japan and the Middle East, the rooms in the Estate were the perfect setting for both our ceremony, reception and dancing.

Marcia Goodwin, the event coordinator, was extremely helpful and honest about what works in the venue. My husband and I visited the estate a few times as we made various decisions about the catering, flowers, music, and our photography. Both emailing and calling worked with when connecting with Marcia. She sat us down initially and went through the various things we needed to do since the venue is owned by the City of Waltham; like the alcohol license which requires some planning.

We had 75 people at the wedding and that allowed for enough space in the dining room to easily walk around to greet our guests. We held our ceremony inside and luckily it was not super hot in august so the lack of air conditioning didn't matter. Marcia was really good at helping us understand the flow of the Estate and how to organize the day to maximize guests comfort.

All of our guests really enjoyed the Estate and commented on how lovely it was to find this oasis in greater Boston so close to everything else we had planned that weekend.
