St Peter's is our "home" church (government jobs keep us on the go) and it truly is an amazing place. The church itself is beautiful, but it is Father Byrne and his staff that make it such a special place. They worked with our crazy schedules, helped us navigate the paperwork required in DC for a visiting priest to be the officiant and stepped us through everything from music to programs. Many catholic churches in the area are rigid and frankly, required $2K+ in fees for a wedding, St Peter's philosophy is "donate what you can, we don't "rent the church" for weddings". Truly a wonderful place.

Beautiful Church, Terrible Music Experience

I am a lifelong Catholic and it pains me to have to write this review, but I think future brides and grooms should know what they're getting themselves into. The church itself is beautiful. The whole reason we wanted it here was because I worked on Capitol Hill for almost a decade and had attended mass and sacraments here over the years. It was special to me in that way. Suzanne (the office manager) was delightful. We'd actually had pretty bad experiences at other churches in the area who were downright rude. Suzanne congratulated us on our engagement immediately and was always very responsive to my questions. However, it went south with the Music Director. A few days before my wedding, he emailed saying that he could no longer stay if the mass ran late (what wedding have you been to that hasn't run late??). I was floored. And true to his word, he literally closed up shop in the middle of communion and walked out leaving the remainder of the mass dead silent. I was horrified. If someone can't fulfill their duties, it's customary for that individual to have someone else step in or at the very least offer to refund part of the service fee given the services were not rendered. It's also completely unacceptable that after scheduling this service months in advance that another "event" takes priority. To make matters worse, my poor wedding planner and her team told me afterwards that he couldn't have been more condescending and rude when conversing with them. Overall, a huge disappointment. If you plan on getting married here, I would recommend hiring outside musicians that will at least stay for the entire ceremony.
