The food and the people that work at Smith Commons are amazing! If you want a fun and lovely place for a reception or any private event give Ron or Jessica a call now.

My Wife and I decided to have a non-traditional wedding in DC which meant we would be looking for all of our own ceremony and reception locations as well as our own vendors for everything. We wanted to have a reception somewhere that provided an outdoor space for us to celebrate with our guests and Smith Commons is one of a handful of locations in NE with this option. We got married a few blocks away on H St at The Table Church early afternoon and the best cocktail reception at Smith Commons right after the ceremony. We were able to rent out the second and third floor for our private event with Smith Commons and during the afternoon the sunshine was pouring in through the full glass wall at the front and through the rolled up garage doors at the back of the building.

We had two requests for our reception and that was to have delicious food and a way for our guests to dance. Prior to our event we knew the food was amazing because we ate there several times sampling everything that was on the menu. The day of our event we found out dancing was a hit too! We had guests dancing on the second and third floor to the music provided by a DJ of our choice (there is also an option for them to use one of their DJs or you can just plug in your own iPod and play a homemade mix).

We had tons of food, delicious drinks, and even a special dessert because the team at Smith Commons made every accommodation they could based on our vision for the day and helped us have the best wedding celebration we could have asked for! If you are throwing an private event this is the place!

Perfect place for a small reception! We were looking to have a real DC wedding with a budget of $6000. We got married at the Moultrie courthouse that afternoon and had an amazing cocktail reception in the new Atlas district in the H street corridor. Smith Commons has an updated old town ambiance. Beautiful exposed brick spacious patio and eventspace with an awesome view of the corridor.

They staff was very accomodating--letting us bring in our own music as well as letting us use the house music which was a really good mix. They are very flexible to your needs. They even gave us an extra hour because there was an event in the city the same day that caused major traffic delays causing everyone to show up (including the bride and groom) up to 45 minutes late.

The food was beyond awesome--chefs really have talent. I honestly had no worries the entire reception and every moment leading up to because the staff was so attentive and really took care of everything. We paid $2000 for a 50 person reception complete with food and alcohol. If you are looking for a true DC experience with all the style and uniqueness the city has to offer for a more than reasonable price, PLEASE have your reception here.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
