Our founders have a combined 60 years experience in the hospitality business and have all lived and worked in the Roanoke Valley their entire lives. We have the connections to recommend the perfect vendors for your vision.
Not only does our years of experience set us apart, we also believe it's our passion that makes us difference. Planning is our passion and that’s what we do.
We don’t try and do flowers or photography on top of orchestrating your event. What that means is you can rest assured on your big day, when you need us we're right there. You hire an event planner to do just that ... to PLAN and to EXECUTE. We double check and triple check everything. We meet with your vendors and communicate directly with them to make sure every one is on the same page every step of the way.
We are proud that our founders all have backgrounds working in food & beverage. We have a former Restaurant Manager, former Director of Catering and even an an executive Chef as our founders! Events have been our lives and we believe your guests will remember your event based on their experience . . .and they remember the food!
So what makes us different? We have local connections, we plan, and we understand the basic needs for events. That's it. That's the difference. It's that simple.

Vicki has lived and worked in the Roanoke Valley all her life. She started in the event business in 1987 while still in high school, and has never left! Throughout her career in the hospitality industry, Vicki's experiences in various places has given her the experience necessary to be proactive in planning events. She thinks through every scenario, because she's seen it all!! Communication and details are her strong suit which ensures no detail is overlooked.
Also with that many years in the same location, she has fostered important connections and relationships with local vendors that will benefit YOU. Vicki prides herself on being able to get a vision for your perfect day, and pairing that with a vendor that will make YOUR dream come true. It's not about vendor lists - it's about who will work best for you. When Vicki left the hotel business in 2011, she started Simplicity and has since brought on two of the best planners you could ever find! We believe our years of experience make us different.
Vicki is the mother to three awesome almost-all-grown-up boys. When not working, you'll usually find her at her church working with the youth group, or doing mission work locally, state-side, or globally.
Peggy's event planning career began at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center in 2006. Peggy says "I was very fortunate to have a great Manager during the first years of my career, Vicki Itson! Vicki was a great mentor and inspiration. She challenged me to learn about Food & Beverage, probing with clients and and detailing events. I owe Vicki so much for believing in me and helping obtain confidence in Event Planning."
In addition to weddings, Peggy has an extensive background for non-profit fundraising, social and corporate events. But she admits, weddings are her favorite. She loves working with Brides and a Grooms! It gives her a lot of pleasure to turn their dreams into reality.
With Peggy's background knowledge of contracts, local vendors, attention of details and overseeing events, she will help make your event a memorial occasion.
During her free time, you'll always find Peggy on the go. Whether lunching with friends, relaxing at her house on the river, or spending quality time with her mother, she is always on the move. And a little fun fact about Peggy ... she solo flew an airplane when she was 16!
Courtney and Vicki met in 1987 while both working at a local hotel and have been both close friends and colleagues for most of their professional lives.
Courtney (a proud Hokie) grew up in Northern Virginia. After spending a few years in Richmond when her children were small, she returned to make her home in Southwest Virginia. Courtney began her hospitality career in a hotel kitchen while still at Virginia Tech, She continued her culinary training after graduation, and then made the transition to event coordination where she has remained ever since. She has served as an Event Coordinator and/or Catering Director in hotels as well as in private clubs. Locally, those include Roanoke Country Club, Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center and the Inn at Virginia Tech.
Courtney is well known for her eye for detail and her constant quest to be sure that everything is "just right". Over the years, she has worked with a wide variety of guests and clients from many different backgrounds and cultures. She takes great pride in working to understand what is important to each one of them, and then bringing life to their vision. She will be your liaison from start to finish. Always honest and always putting your interests first.
Courtney's two children are all grown up now, but she is settling into her empty nest by sugaring up her grandkids before they head home, or rescuing more cats than her husband will allow.
