Born and raised in Miami, FL, Levar Cooper has always had a passion for art. Throughout childhood, he's been deeply involved in many areas ranging from drawing to creative writing to musicianship just to name a few. This love for art translated into a full-time career as a graphic designer/multimedia specialist. The frustration of using stock photography to communicate his clients' ideas eventually led to the purchase of his first professional SLR. In offering this service, Levar found a demand for his photogoraphy so he began taking courses and experimenting with different photographic techniques.
His "shoot-for-print" style of event coverage produced freelance work ranging from news & editorial photography to event coverage for Fortune 500 companies. This journalistic, story-telling style of coverage reflects in his work today and is the basis of Shining Light Photography's approach to wedding coverage. That is, shining light on what's already there. "We don't create moments... we capture memories," explains Levar. "Too often, photographers try so hard to produce a perfect image that they forget to tell the story. When my brides and their families look at their albums decades from now, they will remember all the emotions, laughter and excitement of that special day." His design/multimedia background enables him to provide his brides with services and products that are both unique and innovative. Photographers love him because his work is technically sound and couples love him because he listens and delivers.
