Our wedding at Shade did not disappoint! From the moment we contacted them and all the way up to our wedding date, we were impressed. They are very professional and knowledgeable. They made the whole process so easy and stress free. Our guests loved it! The location was fantastic and the food amazing. Highly Recommend!

We had a boutique wedding here in February and it was amazing!

Preparation
Hanna is INCREDIBLE! She was so detailed oriented with excellent follow up, and patience. I wasn't an annoying bride, but I was planning a boutique wedding (immediate family only) during the height of covid, and she was always so accommodating and understanding of every question and concern. She also made me feel that I was as important as a wedding of 200 people, while we were only having 15 people. She was also present for day of the event, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Every time I had a need or question, it was yes, and we can do that or this, no problem. She worked in secret with my sibling to plan a special video at the end of the night, and just overall was such a pleasure to have part of our special day and all of the time and work leading up to the day.
She's such a wonderful person and takes a lot of pride in her work. Shade is very lucky to have her as an employee and represent their brand to customers.

Food/Service
Food and service was outstanding. A few people said it was the best food they've had at a wedding, b/c it is really built like a restaurant vs. hotel making food.
Michael, Cynthia, and Mary were incredibly gracious, polite and accommodating, ensuring everybody was served on time and kept the drinks flowing... It was probably the first party since quarantine, and everybody had a fun time!

Setting
Beautiful! We felt it was special and intimate. The place is so beautiful and doesn't need a lot of extra decor.

Overall, Shade is a really beautiful place to have your wedding, but the people and service took the experience to the next level, and made our special day filled with so many happy memories. We also didn't have to worry about our guests or accommodations, as everything was taken care of and flowed so naturally! BIG THANK YOU Hanna and the Shade team!

Booking the shade hotel in Manhattan beach as our wedding venue was the best decision we made. The hotel is in a great location down town manhattan beach. It is a great place for out of town guests to visit, as there are a lot of things to do and see in the area. Shade is small enough that it felt very intimate but big enough that it had everything we needed. The courtyard has a succulent wall which was a great backdrop for the ceremony and the reception and the bistro lights lit up the night. The shade was the most perfect venue with the most wonderful Staff. I can not say enough about how wonderful all the departments are. Everyone was so accommodating and bent over backwards to make sure that everything went according to our visions. The shade hotel far exceeded our expectations. They made planning our wedding so easy and stress free. Ciji was the best event Coordiator ever. She was so easy to work with, she has a great upbeat positive attitude and she was very attentive to detail. She really made us feel special and she was able to personalize our wedding to really fit our personalities. Callie the group sales manager, really helped make our wedding a reality. From the start Callie was able to see our vision and helped guide us along the process. It was really because of Ciji and Callie that we chose the shade as our wedding venue, and we are so happy that we did. They went above and beyond in all aspects of planning and executing our wedding.
We also decided to have our rehearsal dinner on the patio of the zinc lounge which was great. Shelley the general manager was also so wonderful to work with. She was always available to answer any of our questions and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Chef Gram was so flexible in designing our menu for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Everyone loved all of the food.
Overall, I could not be happier that we chose to go with the shade hotel in Manhattan beach as our wedding venue. The hotel is beautiful, it’s in a great area, the staff is beyond amazing and they personalized everything for us. They made our special day so memorable and we can’t thank them enough for everything that they did for us. I highly recommend the shade for a wedding or any event. Ciji, Callie, Shelley and chef Gram are the best!!!!

Much like many brides, I was completely unsure how my hustand and I would agree on the PERFECT place for our wedding. The right combination of indoor/outdoor, romantic but still architecturally pleasing, formal but not too formal space to get married. Shade Manhattan Beach is PERFECTION. Our goal was to be married at a place that was convienant to our family and friends and have the ceremony, cocktail hour, lunch and dancing. Hannah and Jenny were incredible. They listen, they suggest, they problem solve. Both gave us all their best efforts and from the response of our guests, everyone agreed. Shade Manhattan Beach was PERFECTION. MUST HAVE: Penthouse Suite, Bridal Suite, do a daytime wedding to save funds and during an off-prime month, you are getting everything you want for a lil less. THANK YOU!

The team at Shade Manhattan Beach were simply amazing to work with, from Jenny, Hanna and Callie in events, to Chef Johnny at Zinc Bar and Restaurant. Every detail of our wedding was flawless and it was completely because of the tremendous teamwork that everyone at Shade puts forth. We had some scares because of possible rain, but each person we worked with, including Jeff and Sylivia in management, but our minds at ease and helped with a "rain plan" that we didn't need to put in to effect, luckily. The venue itself is stunning with the succulent wall in the courtyard and the drapes and lights hanging above. At Shade, Chef Johnny provided 5 star quality food and not one morsel tasted like it was "wedding food". Everyone raved about how delicious is all was. My husband and I are "South Bayers" and because of that, we wanted to make sure that we kept our wedding locally, using all local vendors so that our businesses continue to thrive. Shade gave all our out of town guests a better understanding of why we live here, and love our community. You can't get better than this boutique hotel and venue to give you the best taste of SoCal living! Their attention to detail was second to none. I did not have a wedding coordinator and day of, I didn't lift a finger! Hanna and her staff were on point all day making sure I didn't have a worry. Thank you Shade for making our wedding so amazing!

Kaitlin and Jenny: the two amazing people in our lives. You guys made our day so special by helping with details and organization. I couldn't have done it without your help! You made planning easy, from hotel reservations to catering to decorations and most importantly you guys made us feel at home at Shade. You two are the best! We always say that Shade has been our home away from home since we first stayed there. Now it is truly our home in Manhattan Beach. The staff is so friendly and happy (thanks Chelsea and Jennifer too), always ready to help out with anything. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food in Zinc Lounge is incredible! Our social hour appetizers, the wedding buffet and desserts are all on our favorites list. I would not change anything. Thank you again for the hospitality! We'll be back soon.

My husband and I chose this venue for our wedding because we met in Manhattan Beach and we absolutely loved the beach views from the Shade Hotel Skydeck. We also liked the clean lines and modern vibe of the venue. We had a smaller wedding for about 40 ppl, and on a moderate budget, so we chose to do a brief ceremony and primarily a cocktail/dinner reception on the Skydeck. First off, the food is absolutely phenomenal! I don't know how many of our guests said this was the best food they've ever had, let alone at a wedding. Second, the entire team at Shade is very responsive and friendly, and got back to my planner and myself ASAP on all questions we had. Thanks to Jenny Cooper and Kaitlin Tunney, and their entire team, who went above and beyond to meet our needs and desires for our wedding. They provide venue with equipment (chairs, tables, some basic decorations), catering, and bar services. You will need to scout a florist and additional decorations if you like (definitely keep this in mind for your budget), DJ, and a bakery (if you opt for a cake), but they provide great local suggestions. The venue and food can be a bit pricey but well-worth it, be sure to clarify all costs for any additionals and the Shade team is transparent and happy to help navigate options. (Their succulent wall is amazing for portraits as well!) Thank you to the entire Shade team for helping us create such an incredible experience!

My husband and I held our son's Rehearsal Dinner on the Skydeck of this amazing location on April 21, 2017. From our first contact with Jenny Cooper, Catering Sales Manager, to our interaction with Kaitlin Tunney, Catering Services Coordinator, before, during and after, our evening was flawless and all involved were unbelievably professional. The decorations, provided by Shade were perfect for our beach themed event, and this was included in the price. We are able to choose all our food items, and they even accommodated requests not available on their catering menu. We were really able to make the evening about (and for) the future Bride and Groom. Everyone loved the amazing food that was served throughout the evening, and the Signature Cake Pops are to die for! If you are able to reserve this location for your rehearsal, or wedding, you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Jenny, Kaitlin and the entire Shade staff for a wonderful evening! We look forward to future fun at Shade!

One word AMAZING. We had our wedding reception at Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach and could not have been happier with everything; venue, service, food, location.

We had an intimate reception for 30, we started on the Zinc terrace for cocktails, then moved to the roof for dinner and some dancing and when we wrapped up everyone went downstairs to the bar for "one more drink". Really, we could not be happier, the Shade team (especially Jenny!) made sure everything went without a mistake - great care was taken and any 'problems' were immediately resolved.

Thanks guys - we'll be back to celebrate our anniversary!!

We had our reception at Shade Hotel and it was truly the perfect venue to have a California Winter Wedding! It captured our luxe and modern style, and the space was perfect for the amount of guests we had (just under 100). All of our guests were blown away by how beautiful the hotel was and the delicious food they provided.

Jolise (Events Director) was such a pleasure to work with! She brings a lot of enthusiasm and positive energy to planning your event. She was very responsive and trustworthy whenever we needed any help or recommendations. She also had an amazing team (Jayme, Rachael, Megan, etc) supporting her, and willing to accommodate to our needs whenever necessary. They took great care of us throughout the planning process until the day of the wedding. They even made sure we were comfortable and able to eat.

Overall, everyone had lots of fun and we were extremely happy!!! We wouldn't have been able to pull off such an amazing wedding reception if we didn't have it at Shade.
