Spectacular! Many compliments

Our wedding reception at the Science Museum was SPECTACULAR. Leah was a tremendous help, and made sure everything went smoothly. Hire-a-host (the new catering vendor for SMM) was also phenomenal. We got many compliments on the food (it was SO good), and the layout/decorations were amazing. There were some bumps along the road (due to COVID), but in the end the Science Museum event staff delivered and made everything go smooth.

We got a ton of compliments from our guests on the entire event, and we are incredibly happy we decided to choose the Science Museum. There's nothing quite like getting wedding pictures in front of the T-Rex ;)

The nerdy wedding of our dreams!

The museum was a fantastic place for our wedding since we are both big geeky nerds. The space provided to us was fantastic with beautiful views of the Mississippi River and skyline of downtown Saint Paul. Staff at the museum were incredibly responsive and flexible to our needs. We were surprised that this place was so reasonably priced for a place downtown. Truly a perfect choice for us.

The science museum was the perfect venue. The space was beautiful, layout was optimally comfortable, price was reasonable. Everyone got free parking and free admission to the museum which was a delightful bonus. The food was delicious. The staff were wonderful to work with, especially Kaitlin who really went above and beyond to make our day special. I have nothing but glowingly positive things to say.

Working with Kaitlin, Laura, Kathy, and Rose was incredibly easy and straightforward. They worked together with us and our vendors to make our wedding planning process as painless as possible. They were understanding of last-minute changes and were very accommodating to our miscellaneous needs. We reserved the Elements cafe, and had an incredible time. We enjoyed the balcony attached to the venue, and the free admission we and our guests had throughout the day! If you like science and you like easy planning, this is the venue for you!

We had an amazing experience with SMM. Laura was really great at replying emails and working with their caterer, Lancer, was really easy. They were very upfront about all of the involved costs, very quick to respond to emails, answered all of our questions thoroughly, and were very accommodating about letting us see the space multiple times. We are an out-of-town couple, so this was very important to us. We booked in the Elements Cafe and even though our weather was terrible, our guests had a great time and we still get compliments on it a month later! Plus, in addition to getting a beautiful room and great experience, all of your guests get admission to the museum day-of (great for entertaining while you take group photos!), validated parking, and a year membership to the museum. I wish we could rate higher than 5 stars!

My daughter's wedding reception was held in December at the Science Museum and we would definitely recommend the venue to anyone. With a winter event, this solved the issue of where guests could go and what they could do in between the ceremony and the reception. Admission to the exhibits and parking for the wedding party and all guests was provided, making the rental cost a great value. The museum rep who worked with us was extremely organized and efficient, replied promptly to our questions and was a joy to work with. The event lead who was on-site the evening of the reception was equally wonderful. She had everything under control and not a detail was missed. As an extra FYI - when you book with the Science Museum, you are required to use their contracted caterer, Lancer Catering. This eliminates the need to search for a good caterer and every detail goes smoothly since they consistently work together. We could not have made a better choice than having the reception at the Science Museum of Minnesota!

On September 12, 2015, we hosted our daughter's wedding at the Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM). What a beautiful venue: the Elements reception area has floor to ceiling glass windows (which showcased a gorgeous view of the sunset), a large patio with a panoramic view of the river, a floor plan that accommodated both a cocktail reception area (overlooking dinosaurs) as well as a large seating area for dinner with several options for decorating (lighting, chair covers, napkins, etc.). Other key features include free, covered parking, passes to the museum on the day of the wedding (if guests need something to do between the wedding and the reception, this is a built-in option) and is conveniently located downtown St. Paul with several hotel options in the immediate vicinity. We viewed several other reception locations but found SMM to be the most enticing.
Not only is the space beautiful but the food and service were top notch. Several guests came up to us the night of the reception and commented on how good the food was. Working with Kaitlin Keller, Catering Sales Manager from Lancer Catering and Jennifer Ernst George, SMM Facility Sales and Event Specialist made our lives easier as they helped us navigate through the planning process. They were knowledgeable and very responsive. I would highly recommend this venue.

My husband and I are both very "sciencey" people (he's a chemist and I'm in medicine) so what better place to have our wedding reception that the Science Museum? We have a lot of children in our extended families, and they thought it was amazing that they were able to bring their kids through the museum before the event began. Weddings can be very long days, so it was great to have this opportunity in between ceremony and reception (we had our ceremony at a church in St. Paul) for people to kick back and have some fun. The food was excellent, they even made us pies instead of cake, and all of the guests were raving about the space (we were in Elements Cafe). Overall, a great venue!
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
