Our wedding reception at the Science Museum was SPECTACULAR. Leah was a tremendous help, and made sure everything went smoothly. Hire-a-host (the new catering vendor for SMM) was also phenomenal. We got many compliments on the food (it was SO good), and the layout/decorations were amazing. There were some bumps along the road (due to COVID), but in the end the Science Museum event staff delivered and made everything go smooth.
We got a ton of compliments from our guests on the entire event, and we are incredibly happy we decided to choose the Science Museum. There's nothing quite like getting wedding pictures in front of the T-Rex ;) -

The museum was a fantastic place for our wedding since we are both big geeky nerds. The space provided to us was fantastic with beautiful views of the Mississippi River and skyline of downtown Saint Paul. Staff at the museum were incredibly responsive and flexible to our needs. We were surprised that this place was so reasonably priced for a place downtown. Truly a perfect choice for us. -

Megan Sent on 07/09/2012I had a great experience working with Kim at the Science Museum. My work schedule is restrictive and she was very accommodating in working with me via email to minimize this disruption. My only complaint is that my cake topper was lost at the end of the night. While it's a minor point, I wish that the museum did not put the topper out on a table "in public" because I suspect it was swiped or broken by one of our guests before we could put it in a box to take home with us; it's a sentimental piece and I'm disappointed it was lost. All in all, though, it was a great venue, and I'm happy we chose it! -

Shannon Sent on 05/11/2015The Science Museum of Minnesota is an amazing venue, right in the heart of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Many of our friends and family have mentioned they weren't aware The Science Museum even held weddings. We certainly wouldn't have known it without the recommendation of a family friend. It was one of the first venues we did a walk through of, and we fell in love instantly! It has floor to ceiling windows surrounding the reception room on the 6th floor, with an amazing outdoor terrace that overlooks the river. To me, this venue is like that of a fairy tale! We are getting married October 17, 2015, and cannot wait!
The people we have worked with have all been spectacular! The price is a bit high, but the venue will almost always be the main portion of your wedding budget, and there are tons of ways to cut corners in other areas to make this happen with a smaller to average budget! We are having our ceremony and reception there, but that also makes it more expensive. So consider it for at least the reception, if not for both!
The location is great, because there are a lot of restaurants and hotels close by for rehearsal dinner ideas and convenient guest accommodations. It's also not very far from the airport for any guests flying in from out of town. Just be sure to check for local concerts and conventions in the area on the weekend of your chosen wedding date, because that has been the only hiccup in our venue/hotel accommodations planning so far.

Jenny Sent on 06/22/2018Recently had both my ceremony and reception at the Science Museum (Discovery Hall, specifically), and it was wonderful! I had a difficult time communicating with the on-site coordinator, but I suspect that's largely my fault, as my planner had no trouble at all, and it's not exactly my strong suit anyway... So, if you like going to the Science Museum, and think your guests would enjoy it, go for it! A couple things to be aware of though; they work exclusively with Lancer Catering, and Avant Decor, which is fine if you're not set on something else! We got SO many compliments on our food and on the ceiling draping! The downside is that Lancer has a relationship with Buttercream, so getting your cake elsewhere would be PRICEY, and I cannot recommend Buttercream. They ruined our cake. It looked like I tried to decorate it myself in like, an hour. It looked sloppy and unprofessional, to put it kindly. I'll post a review for them as well, if you're considering them and want to know more about it, but I'm hoping to wait until they've responded to my complaint first. ANYWAY, bottom line: Science Museum weddings are AWESOME!
