This is going to be a long review because I’m so effusive about Sarah Lillie Designs. If you just want the bottom line, here it is: In the entire experience of planning my wedding, working with Lillie at SLD was the single best decision we made (other than marrying my husband).
Here’s why: Lillie is a true creative visionary and industry professional who is well connected enough to know who each client should work with given their particular personalities, interests, and design goals. But she’s also down-to-earth and authentic enough to truly care—as not just a business owner and professional, but also a person—that her client is 100% happy with the way that their vision for their wedding comes to life on their wedding day. Lillie (and her entire time) are responsive, clear communicators who walk you through the entire wedding planning process from “wouldn’t it be amazing if we got married here?” to walking down the aisle, fully beaming and completely confident that your special day is going to be handled to perfection. Something that I didn’t know as an engaged person (and, I’ve always joked, I only plan to go through this process once!) is that planning a wedding weekend is a long process, and there is a specific order to which vendors to book when to ensure that everything aligns properly. Especially if you are planning a wedding in a place different from where you live (Charleston, SC is a place we had visited and loved, but not a place where we had local connections), working with an expert wedding planner who is extremely familiar with your wedding locale and venue is priceless.
I could write a dissertation about why Lillie is simply the kindest, most responsible, most organized and truly aesthetic/artistic/creative person ever, but the main idea is that you could do yourself no greater favor than to inquire immediately about working with Lillie if you want a wedding weekend that you get to savor and fully be present for because you 100% trust that your planning team not only has everything covered, but also has the prior experience and resilience to handle any unforeseen issues that you weren’t even aware you should worry about in the first place.

I write this as a relatively anxious Type A perfectionist person, so I hope this speaks volumes: I do not have a single critique of my experience. Lillie and her team advocated for us, went above and beyond for us, and truly impressed us with their genuine, authentic, and monumental efforts. As mother of the bride, I was tasked with “interviewing” wedding planners for my daughter’s May 2025 destination wedding in Charleston, SC.
