Sarah lives in San Diego but will travel for your wedding. Our wedding was in Seattle and while there was additional expense for her travel to join us in Seattle... it was worth it. We enjoyed the process with Sarah, our pictures are gorgeous....we had a gallery to enjoy and share within days and the complete gallery shortly there after... we were amazed with the speed and attention she gave our wedding photos and edits. Not only did she take incredible photos of us and the ceremony and reception etc... but she took great family portraits of my sister and bro in law with their kids and best friend and her family- she is thoughtful and took the time to get to know us and the most important people in our lives at the wedding. She treated us all like dear friends and made our day fantastic and the memories will last forever.

I feel so lucky and grateful to have had Sarah Layne shoot our once in a lifetime wedding ceremony in the breathtaking Punta de Mita, Mexico. When we first saw Sarah’s work, we felt that there was something so distinct and organic about her style. Her shots didn't seem posed or forced. They seemed honest, framed in ways that seemed to capture the genuine emotions of a moment and the unique beauty of each location. On the day of our wedding, these impressions all proved accurate. Our experience with Sarah and her team felt so natural. She provided subtle directions for our family and wedding party photos. She guided our friends and family to locations around the venue that really foregrounded the emotions, personalities, and colors of the day, setting them against the backdrop of a beautiful location. Some of the locations didn't seem obvious in the moment, but when we saw the pictures we were amazed by how Sarah's choices produced striking color contrasts and whimsical juxtapositions between the subjects and the unique architecture and landscape of the site. It's easy for a bride and groom to lose sight of the small and large details of the day, especially when you're in the moment, but we were lucky enough to have a photographer with a keen eye for the big and the small details. Sarah and her assistant gave us a full view of the events, from the distant shot of the ceremony site set against palm trees to the close-up shots of our rings, family heirlooms, and our gnome wedding toppers. The composition of each shot was carefully-chosen and never over-edited, which resulted in brilliant images that brought out the natural mix of colors from the day. What's more amazing is how those images brought our most dear relationships with friends and family into relief, and how they captured the range of emotions felt by everyone that day. Sarah was able to freeze the lens on those fraction-of-a-second moments that other photographers might overlook or miss.

We were recommended to Sarah through my best friend! We loved her work and decided we wanted to meet with her. We got along with her immediately and decided to hire her for our wedding. Aside from being an incredibly talented photographer, she was just a great person to have around for the wedding! She always made us feel so special and got us so excited for the big day. On the day of the wedding, she fit in perfectly. She could joke around with our friends but also make us and the families feel at ease. We couldn't have asked for more. 'm completely over the moon with the quality of pictures Sarah shot for our December 2011 wedding! Not only did I feel instantly comfortable with Sarah, she understood our budget constraints, worked with us to find a package that captured as much of our event as possible, worked with us on our non-traditional ceremony and reception...but then she absolutely nailed the photography, too! She really caught the spirit of the event, from the tiny details to the big staged family shots. My husband and I are not super comfortable in front of a camera, and were pretty stressed about the staged photographs. She did everything in her power to accommodate our concerns, and I really pleased how none of our initial worries came to pass. We had a huge guest list, and she made it a point to get pictures of absolutely everyone there, which was great. She also got the wedding photos up in the online gallery really quickly, which was awesome. I recommend her 100%, without hesitation.

The first thing on my list to do for my wedding was to hire a photographer. I wanted to make sure I found someone who has an eye for detail but yet captures the overall importance of our big day. I found Sarah Layne and knew she would fulfill everything we wanted but more importantly needed in our photographer.

We did our engagement picture session with her back in Feb as it was part of our package. Sarah was so easy going and was confident in every aspect of the shoot. We picked a green canyon in Hillcrest to have our pinwheel themed shoot. The day of was pretty chilly down there and kind of damp. That didn't stop Sarah from getting down low into the grass to capture and amazing image. She also helped out with styling the shoot. It was an amazing couple hours to spend with her. It also gave us a great idea of what our wedding day will be like with her.

Fast forward 11 months and the wedding is here! Sarah flew up to Portland to shoot our wedding and her presence made it magically stop raining the day of our wedding. We got so lucky!!! She came over to the hotel to shoot the getting ready pictures. It felt like having just another one of the girls in the hotel room. I didn't even really notice she was taking pictures until she would tell me to hold it because the lighting was good or I looked pretty. We did our first look pictures outside and she got some of the most breath taking pictures I have seen. You can see how beautiful the day was but mainly you can actually feel the love in the pictures. She was so professional and discreet when taking pictures through the ceremony. The reception she did equally as well but made her presence known by chatting up a few people.

She was one of the most important aspects of my wedding. I never felt so beautiful until I saw pictures of myself and my husband standing side by side with an amazing light shining down on us. It amazes me that one person could snap that one moment and it stays with you forever.

I loved having her there as a vendor and as a guest (she can dance too!!). She is incredibly talented, amazingly sweet and beyond affordable. I would HIGHLY recommend setting up a meeting with her if you are looking for a great photographer for any occasion.
