Jeff and his team were SO attentive and accommodating throughout our reception planning, from a full reschedule due to the pandemic to the last minute details, they were easy to contact and quick to respond throughout. Robert J Events and Catering helped us host our wedding at Happy Days Lodge on May 10th, 2025. We had a number of quality full service catering options through the venue, but ultimately Robert J was the perfect fit for our budget and needs. After all was said and done, I would sign with them to host any future events in a heartbeat.

From the very start, the coordinator, Abby, was attentive, responsive, and understanding. We had to plan our wedding from out of state so most of our info gathering and phone calls had to be remote and coordinated across time zones. She answered all of our questions and revised our proposal countless times to help us make the best decision we could without being able to be in the north east Ohio area. Once we signed on, there was no drop off in service. It was super simple to work with their team to select table settings and any additional decor we wanted to use through them. While we chose to provide some of our own decor that our family helped set up, the Robert J staff set up and tore every single item that we rented through them which took an immense load of myself, my husband, our families, and our bridal party. The extra cost to rent some equipment like vases may not be right for everyone, but it was perfect for our needs since we were travelling to the wedding ourselves and had limited decor storage space.

The tasting that we had featured a wonderful menu and it was so hard to narrow down our choices. I was especially impressed with their dietary friendly options. We have some friends and family with pretty severe allergies and Robert J provided options and health practices (e.g. no cross contamination with the main buffet) that allowed them to have a wonderful delicious meal and not just an afterthought. Ultimately our menu was as follows: beef tip with gluten free gravy, breaded chicken, brussel sprouts with bacon, and mashed potatoes. Our dietary option was gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan: Quinoa stuffed acorn squash, brussel sprouts (no bacon!), and dairy free mashed potatoes. The acorn squash was actually so delicious that my mom and I both chose to have it over the main buffet even though we don’t have dietary restrictions. They also offer kids meals separately from the buffet!

On the day of, the catering staff ran like clockwork. I was never wondering where anyone was or what was coming up next. Our budget did not allow for a day-of event coordinator so it was just myself, my mom, and Abby keeping tabs on things. I sent Abby the timeline for the night ahead of time, but after that I hardly had to give a second thought about it. I know that the catering team was coordinating with my other vendors behind the scenes because everything went off without a hitch, but I never saw it throughout the night. I was able to be totally immersed in the evening which I didn’t expect. This is one of the highest compliments and pieces of evidence I can provide for how absolutely on top of everything they were.

At the end of the day, we all want delicious food we can enjoy at our wedding, but with how big of an investment catering is, every couple deserves to have the level of service that Robert J provides along with the wonderful food. Working with Robert J was one of the easiest parts of planning our wedding and I highly recommend them to anyone in the NEO area (but especially to folks looking at happy days lodge!).
