About
I was in car sales for twenty-seven years before I made the switch to photography. I know what you're thinking, how do you go from selling cars to shooting photos?
Well...in 1996 I bought a camera and started shooting on film. It was frustrating and fun all at the same time. I started learning the camera and exposures, mostly, I learned from my mistakes! It was so exciting shooting a roll, getting it developed and seeing what I had created. Just had to share a few of the earlier years pics. Lots of fun days!
After shooting film for a while, I switched to slide film. I would sit and study my slides for hours. I would shoot anything and everything I saw! (Show some slides) I loved to shooting landscapes, animals, abstracts, people...anything! My favorite photographer and mentor is Bryan F. Peterson. I bought his book "Understanding Exposure" and read it from cover to cover, several times. He is an amazing photographer and a great teacher! If you're wanting to learn how to shoot, you should check him out.
While I was still working for Dunn, selling cars and dreaming about being a photographer, one of my good friends that I worked with had worked as a professional photographer, so I worried him to death everyday. John Ramirez never turned me away and always answered my 100 questions per day and helped me tremendously! Then, I met Donn Jones. He's the official Tennessee Titan's photographer. We exchanged emails and became friends. He really helped me a lot. He'd give me awesome advice and great constructive criticism. One day I got the best email I've ever gotten. Donn asked me to shoot a game! That was four seasons ago and I have had a blast ever since! Donn has built my confidence so much! He's hired me for several other jobs too, including The Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Speedway and several others! He's quite a guy!
February of 2009, I made the big move from selling cars to photographer. A lot has happened since then. I've gotten married, and started shooting weddings, babies, developed awesome relationships with several business in Sumner County, Gallatin Chamber of Commerce, Sumner County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Mayor Jo Anne Graves, everyone has supported me in amazing ways. I never thought I would be able to live out my dream as a full-time photographer!
Out of everything that I shoot, I believe weddings are my favorite! There is something about meeting a couple, getting to know them and being a part of their day. I take pride in my photography and I try to capture every detail. There is so much time put into every little detail and I want my couples to enjoy their day for years to come! I guess you could say I have a photojournalistic style. People who weren't able to make the wedding I've shot say, "I feel like I was there!" There will never be a shortage of images on average, you will end up with 500 images!
